Hello,

I will buy a iPad. I plan to buy the 12in iPad Pro for use for mainly drawing, graphic design etc. (not replacing main computer for it) Or I could just buy a Wacom type tablet with the screen for that and use it with my M1 Mac mini.

I also will buy a smaller iPad for use for other stuff like music, Facebook, internet, music recording software, etc. 2nd screen.

What would be a better buy? The 10in iPad Air with 64gigs, or if I go up higher, the 256 gigs for 659 or the 11in iPad Pro 128gigs for 699?

What are some other things I can use a iPad for?

if you can wait and your desktop supports featutes like continuity and Hand off get the upcoming new basic iPad.

I would just get the new air 5 th gen. The problem with the base iPad is air gapped screen. I have yet to hear the iPad base model 10 th gen changes this. It is possible they may put a fully laminated display so it might make sense to wait. The current base model iPad is not worth saving the money in my opinion.

If you can find a deal on the 11” pro and need the 128gb storage then it might make sense but if you are going to have a larger pro it kind of doesn’t make sense. You can find the air for $559 on Amazon or go through the education store for $549. I am sure there will be sales in the near future too. At that price it is just a little more than a mini.

The 5 th gen air is very nice for content consumption, browsing the web, playing a few games and it should run really fast for years with M1 and 8 gb ram.

The tenth gen iPad will have a14 and probably 4gb ram which is still fast and perfectly fine but should cost around $399 to start and then it is just a cost vs what you want decision. The pro is overkill since you won’t be using it for drawing but the air can still use your pencil. If they fix the air gapped screen on the basic iPad it might be the best choice considering the cost.

Good luck.

Thanks everyone,

Which would be better as a second screen with a laptop, the 11in M1 iPad Pro or the M1 air iPad?

Currently the screens are basically the same with the Pro's being slightly brighter. New iPads should be announced this month so wait to see if there are any screen changes on the 11" Pro.

The 11” Pro and 10.9” Air are kinda the same for that usage.

Personally, I find the 12.9” much more useful as a second display thanks to the extra screen real estate.
