Yeah, that "not as described" excuse is a guaranteed return even if the item is exactly as described. 6 months window to file that is just asinine.

I agree with that. eBay is all in this for themselves as 6 month return window is stupid as stupid gets.

Unfortunately, they made that change to be in line with the 6-month window for credit card chargebacks, as eBay/PayPal don't like to be left holding the bag. That's why I won't hesitate to beat eBay/PayPal at their own game by allowing my account to go in the red in the case of a buyer's fraud, easily done by not linking my checking account to PayPal and spending the money as soon as I get it (I apparently have good enough seller feedback for the funds to be released immediately). They may try to threaten, but I seriously doubt they'll sic collections on me as I'll file a counterclaim for buyer's fraud and dispute the debt as invalid. PayPal isn't a bank or a creditor so they don't have any real power to do damage.

If they do file a claim and send it back to you. Make sure it's yours and working properly and that they turned off find my iPhone and wiped it back to factory specs. Refund them and resell it.

A little introduction, i'm 17, and as such I don't know much about laws and investigations and how all that crap works, but an ebay buyer has got my head in a spin.

I had a nexus 5 that drove me insane on t-mobile, so I bought an unlocked iPhone 5 on ebay and used it happily for a month or two until the new iPhones came out, I then re-sold it and happily upgraded to a 6+, however over a month (close to two?) had passed when the buyer of my iPhone 5 messaged me on ebay. They claimed they had gone to an apple store and had been told that the iPhone was not a apple product, they have demanded a refund and have threatened to report me to some online crime thing.

See I'm an ass, I'd walk/drive to the nearest place that handles online crime and internet extortion cases in your area (police or attorney general) and immediately file an internet extortion case against them as somebody trying to extort a refund from you by claiming they will file criminal charges against you if you don't give them money.

Then e-mail them a copy and send one to ebay against the buyer, and ask them for their real name so you can amend the complaint.
