Using f0recast here are my specs:

iPhone 3Gs Firmware 3.1.3

Serial: 85937***3**
Baseband: 05.12.01
Bootloader: 6.4
Model: MC131

Jailbreakable: Only if SHSH is on file
Unlockable: No
Untethered: Yes

I bought this iPhone 3Gs off ebay last month and have been trying to unlock and jailbreak this phone.

I have tried using PwnageTool 4.01 but keep getting a 1600 error code...

My iPhone screen is stuck on the CONNECT TO iTUNES. Plus when my SIM is in the phone it says 'The Sim Card inserted in this iPhone does not seem to be supported' But I know it should work inside a iPhone 3Gs....

Nothing is working and I want to use my iPhone, as its useless at the moment.
 
that sucks, i've got a 3GS with the 6.4 bootloader and it can't be unlocked either. got the new iphone 4, which also can't be unlocked. i guess i won't be able to use any of these phones overseas :mad:

Sounds like you need to activate it with an official AT&T simcard.
Then once it goes into the home screen you will be on 3.1.3
Then run spirit to JB and ultrasnow from cydia to unlock.
You cant go on custom JB 4.0 yet
 
Spirits web site says not to JB if you have iTunes version 9.2, only use earlier versions. How does the 9.2 version effect it?
 
ok, so I downgraded my iTunes to v.9.1.1 then plugged my iPhone 3Gs in... I then installed 'iPhone2,1_4.0_8A293_Restore.ipsw'

Jailbreakable: Yes (don't upgrade)
Unlockable: No

I have tried using PwnageTool 4.01 but keep getting a 1600 error code... iTunes 9.1.1 keeps trying to get me to upgrade to 9.2... do i?

When opening iTunes 9.2 and plugging in my iPhone I get - iPhone screen is stuck on the CONNECT TO iTUNES. Plus when my SIM is in the phone it says 'The Sim Card inserted in this iPhone does not seem to be supported' But I know it should work inside a iPhone 3Gs....

Any ideas on what i can do next....
 
forecast is outdated.

Now you have updated to 4.0 you must downgrade using your SHSH blobs to JB & Unlock.

If you have 3.1.2 SHSH on file you can downgrade> JB with redsn0w/pwnage> load a custom 4.0 FW> unlock with Ultrasn0w.

If you have 3.1.3 SHSH on file you can downgrade>JB with spirit> unlock with Ultrasn0w...(you cannot load up a 4.0 Custom FW from a Spirit JB) (this method requires an official SIM to activate)
 
OP, listen to pixelated. These are your only options, you shouldn't have restored to 4.0, because that could have made it twice as hard for you. You need to have your SHSHs signed to downgrade.
Also, don't pay attention to F0recast, it hasn't been updated for 4.0 yet.

Why on earth did you do that? The whole point of downgrading iTunes was so that you could use Spirit to jailbreak 3.1.3! You've now made it impossible to jailbreak your phone with any available tool!

This basic method worked for me:

I used the C:/windows/system32/drivers/etc/host exploit to get around the fact that my SHSH blobs were not stored with Cydia.

It also took me a few tries. First I tried it with a 3.1.3 IPSW, which didn't work, then tried a 3.1.2 IPSW and the redsnow jailbreak, which did not work. I then tried it with a 3.1.3 IPSW again, and lo and behold, it seemed to work. It's pretty finicky. I'd set aside a few hours to the downgrade if I were you. :)

That will only work if he has 3.1.3 SHSH saved. Apple stopped signing that particular firmware. All that is left to do if he doesn't have them saved, is to wait for a JB to be released.
 
I'm in Switzerland. I bought the iPhone off ebay and trying to insert a SwissCom Pay as you go SIM card.

I'm not sure what provider it was on before...
 
Well they say 14 days but mine only took 3. Its quicker for people on pay as you go apparently as they actually pay, whereas O2 contract sufferers get the unlock for free.

Sorry, can't help with Switzerland! Could always try here though www.iphoneunlockuk.com , they seem to be able to unlock all sorts, however, it does cost you.
