i was updating my iphone4 when a window popped up adn said it couldnt be updated due to an unknown error. Now my phoine is stuck on the updating screen. I can not turn it off or do anything. It is frozen so to say

+1 on Recovery or DFU mode restore.

Also if that doesn't work try it on another computer. We will need more detail to assist further to rule out some things. Have you used Tiny umbrella or anything that would cause your Hosts file to have apple activation servers blocked?
