My girlfriend is looking for a mac compatible digital camera for under €300 (that's about $380). She wants something easy to use/carry like a compact but that has good extra controls (eg exposure times). I think this looks promising;

SONY Cyber-shot DSC-W70

Any advice welcomed...

Personally, I'd look less at Sony and more at Canon.

One thing to keep in mind is optical zoom. It's nice to have decent optical zoom, but digital zoom is a worthless feature that should never have been invented.

I have just got a Sony P200 for £180 and I think it is great. My only gripe is eht optical zomm but with the resolution of 7MP I can crop the pictures in iPhoto quite a lot and they still look great.

My advice is to find something that feels good to use. Dont be scared of going into a camera shop and holding every model they have. You will never yake good photos unless the camera feels right in your hands.

Good luck with finding the camera.
