It's visually striking. Congrats!

That said, I have a few observations...

When one first arrives at the professional site, the portion below the nav bar is just a big empty space. Seems a waste and an opportunity for visitors to click away.

The text on the nav bar is pretty small.

I don't care for the fact that the nav bar continues to move after I have removed the cursor. It distracts from my focus on the material below, and makes it harder to keep track of where I am on your site.

In light of the moving nav bar, I think there should be a more visible sign of my location on the bar than the very faint dashed vertical lines.

Again, congrats on your site.

Overall, your site is very nicely designed and organized.
I found it very easy and fun to navigate.
BTW, your portfolio looks excellent.
I especially admire the variety of different approaches to website design.

One thing about your site struck me right away though;
the striped-bug-thingies at each end of the horizontal-scrolling-menu-thingie are kind of nondescript and not quite commensurate with the work in your portfolio.
The shape really bothers me for some reason.
Also, the yellow/black stripe motif has been done to death; you can obviously do better.

(minor nit)The border at the bottom of the page is a bit uneven; slightly larger at the sides than at the bottom.
This might be specific to my browser though.(safari)

Also, "Illustrator" is missing the "I" on the McNicoll, Estelle, Tamara and Luxe pages.
The initials "PS" for Photoshop is also inconsistently used.

The non-clickable email address at the top of the page is of no use or value to the page, especially with a clickable one at the bottom.

GL with your site.
cheers,

Well it's certainly flash-y. If that's what clients like, I see you can certainly do it.

IMHO, the scrolling menu is too big and busy-looking. Why does it need to scroll? It contains only a few choices. The box underneath, what does it do? When I click some of the menu items, some pictures appear, but that's all that happens.

The black background is a bit harsh.

And I agree with snickelfritz, lose the bug thingies.

adam:
the main problem that i see is when a section is clicked from the menu, that main area does not change at all, and with the menu still moving, it's pretty hard to notice that the submenu of examples has changed.

the side caution strips for the menu seem pixelated... what size monitor are you intending this for?

and now for that menu. it's a nice touch and impresses some people... but it's over-used. also, what's worse about yours is that it is so huge. it just feels like it is the main content of the page. you may be proud of it, but it is distracting...

i will repeat what others have said, that on first load of the page, it feels like there is nothing there and will end up with the viewer leaving immediately. just like any speech, paper, etc... you need an intro with an attention grabber.
