.... However the main problem I see with laptop GPU's is that people are stupid enough to believe that you can run them as you would a massive watercooled desktop 24/7 without it lowering the life expectancy of the laptop. In short they buy the wrong tool for the job then blame the tool....

This I agree with 100% if you are regularly running temperatures internally exceeding 100c because you are seriously gaming or doing very high end graphics or whatever you bought the wrong product for your needs. i know it says 'Pro' on the label but that is very subjective.

As I said before, for me doing what I do I should never suffer from Radiongate and this Mac will out live me ;)

We will see.

Quite frankly, the WORST MISTAKE you could make would be to buy another 17" MacBook Pro.

You'll just be buying another Mac that is doomed to fail within a certain amount of time. And when it does, the failure probably won't still be covered by Apple.

You're going to have to get used to using a slightly smaller display -- 15" (on the retina MacBook Pro).

Consider yourself as having been duly cautioned about this!

Based on what facts?

Based on the petitions regarding Radeongate and the lawsuit which eventually forced Apple to launch a repair programme for it.

You can't deny a very obvious and widespread problem.

How many affected laptops did Apple make?

How many of those failed?

Of those that failed how many failed more than one time?

Apple previously replaced logic boards with units that clearly still suffered the same problem. For the recently announced repair program what is the technical status of the replacement boards are they new, reworked or just the same as the failing boards?

If and when you have the answer to these questions you will be able to substantiate your claims :)

Bold statement time.

I am never going to suffer from Radiongate.

I bought my early 2011 MBP fit for purpose. I don't kick the ass out of the dGPU for what I need my laptop to do.

I am very happy with it and it does exactly what it should and has shown no hardware or software faults at all.

I expect to still be using this laptop in 2017 with no hardware issues.

I will post here to verify that in the future.
