I actually tried to delete my account while I am at it (I never use it) but the delete account button seems to redirect me to the „reset forgotten password“ page instead with no way to actually delete it
You need to be able to log in before you can delete your account.

Imagine the fun if it were possible to delete accounts without knowing people's passwords!

Wish I'd never went with Plex years ago, the last data breach let my details slip onto the dark web and keeps me in spam emails on an older account for years, this one is on the same deleted account (so I thought)
They aren't the first or last company to have a data breach. Heck the majority of places I have a login with have had a breach at some point in time.

I try to mess with them for a good 20 minutes before hanging up (or until they get pissed and hang up on me). The longer we're on the line, the less time they have to scam others
Before they cottoned on to team viewer was fun. But but I got a mac 🤣🤣

Happy with the Jellyfin transition from last year. Still have the Plex account and did the reset dance including re-claiming server, which worked fine, after plex.tv was back online.

Not going to reset my password. It's a unique password used only for Plex, and only emails and hashed pws were exposed. Literally means your password is still secure. Plex advising people to reset is being done out of an abundance of caution, but it isn't actually necessary.

How amateur of MacRumors is to mix "passwords" and "hashed and encrypted passwords". Shame on you

Argh. I got the email, changed my password no problem, and now Plex can't reach my server. None of their troubleshooting tips are working. Any ideas?

Could this be fallout from Plex being hammered by password change requests?

Most likely... Try to log in again (close the app or browser before) : worked for me but I had to claim my server again and then all went back to normal.

I don't use Plex so I do not care. There is better anyway.

2FA ftw!

I had the same question. I used the Apple private relay for my Plex account. When I got to Plex.tv and go to settings it says no password is set. So not really sure what, if anything, I should do.
You actually used "Sign In with Apple." You don't need to do anything. You are still protected using "Sign In with Apple." The bad actors can't get access to your account.

Not even worry, my password is unique with "982d(*@DQO*HdquyDGq2" something like that saved in my 1Password lol. with 2FA. Good luck hacking me!

They are getting slammed by people trying to reset their passwords and than log back in again.

I managed to reset mine first thing this morning (I am in Germany, so CET) but I suspect as more users in Europe - and the US - get these emails, that the response time will get slower (if the sites load at all).

They also had some issues with the pw-reset link generating a message „The Token is Invalid. Please request a new one“, but if you actually did the pw change, the site accepted it (which is what happened with mine, and I was then able to log in with the new credentials).

Also, if you have not already done so, please enable 2FA. It really is worth it for the added security.
Yes a strong PW is useless if they got the PWs out of a database, but 2FA should save you.

Do I really need to change my password, if I login with Apple? Two-factor authentication is enabled, because I use Apple login.

In case anyone runs their Plex server on a remote linux box and has trouble claiming via the web interface, this helped me get everything back to normal!
Accounts have just been compromised & you want to recommend an unauthorized script to claim your server??!!

If you are having an issue, contact PLEX,..don't use potentially risky scripts!

They were hashed and it was a blanket email, so you don't. I would recommend logging out of all connections & ensuring you have 2FA setup though at a minimum.

Yes, is already enabled, because I login with Apple. Still, I cannot change the password because I don't have a current one?

Now Plex does not even see the server software installed on my Synology NAS. It was working just this morning. This is frustrating.
