I am new to Plex and hoping someone could shed some light on my problem. When I add my Movies folder (from my iTunes library), and go to the set content box, nothing shows up to scrape these movies and then update them to my "Watch Movies" tab with all the background art and information. All I get is a message when I go to this tab to switch to the file view. I have no idea what that means, and my movies have not been scanned. I have no idea on how to get the cool imdb updates for all my iTunes movies. Does Plex have a problem with movies converted from Handbrake? Please help.

When you set the content, are you pressing the arrow in the top right until it gets to movies?

Yes, but when I press up or the down arrow, nothing happens. I never see the screen you posted in your reply.

Just a thought, but does it matter if the videos are .mp4 format or that I browsed to my "Movies" folder in iTunes? Maybe Plex is not picking them up?

I'm just starting to really use Plex myself. I just set the scrapers a couple nights ago, and it was able to scrape info for all my .avi, .mkv, and .m2ts files (other than a couple that need renaming). I don't think the format makes a difference. Were the movies downloaded on iTunes? Is the nomenclature correct?

ok so I had to try this all sorts of times. Go into you watch video section, select your media file that contains your movies. I like to scan each movie instead of doing the entire folder at one shot, so I will select each movie. Press C on you key board and that brings up your contextual menu. Select set content and press enter. This brings up the set content box. In the upper RIGHT hand corner is two TINY up and down arrows. Using your side to side keys you can toggle between the up and down arrow, pressing enter will actually toggle between the actual scraper settings. You want the movie scraper and it should be on IMDB already. Next you need to know what kind of files you are scanning. I use VIDEO-TS folders so I deselect the scan recursevely and select use file name for look up. Next I select ok and it should start scanning.

These are not downloaded from iTunes. These are movies that I have owned that I converted Handbrake to get them on my hard drive to use with Front Row, and hopefully Plex if I can figure out how to make the scrape work. I would love to see my movies with the backgrounds and synopsis added. Does it make a difference if I named my movie files manually? For instance, if I converted my X-MEN DVD to X-MEN.mp4 using handbrake, would Plex pick it up or does Plex only pick up ripped VOB files that uses some kind of embedded tag?

BTW the titles must match IMDB exactly So X-Men should be

    X-Men (2000).mp4

    X2 (2003).mp4

    X-Men-The last stand (2006).mp4

I've never added years to my movies and they always scraped fine.

My movie folders aren't titled perfectly, and after scraping a couple nights ago I had no problem with about 90% of my movies being paired with the correct info. My TV shows folders are probably labeled better and all shows were recognized.
