Plex removes features nobody used in order to focus on developing new features nobody wants. It will take them another few decades but they will eventually accept that people who use it only want to access local media files and don't want their "media access" centralized aggregated tracked and monetized.

They need to focus on their viewing apps, make them native to each platform and focus on native decoding.

The issue I saw most frequently was that even if you did want to use it as a podcast solution, every time you entered an RSS feed, it wouldn’t accept it.

Looks like they’ve accepted that they aren’t going to put the energy in to maintain or fix issues so at that point stopping support is the right thing.

Yet they've spent a ton of time adding this "Discover" content aggregator thing, which I looked at once and immediately turned off. I don't want Plex as a content aggregator for online services. It's for my local media on my server and that's it.
The problem with using Plex for this is that it still needs an internet connection. I did like Plex until they dropped local only discovery. I stopped using for this reason.

Kodi or VLC are now my options. I lose a lot of the great features, but at least I can still watch my content when the internet goes out or I am on the road.
