Plextor ConvertX PVR..recommended?

Any of you guys use this or any similar device (I know there is a firewire version) to record or watch TV, or to import from analog sources like a VCR? I am looking to import and edit footage from old vhs tapes in iMovie with an iMac G5 and I was wondering how good of a job these devices would do.
