Not true! I have very good near sighted vision and I can tell the difference very easily watching YouTibe 1080p videos along with reading text from each!
I have perfect vision and you can't tell the difference on a phone. Anything else is lie.

I have the iPhone 6 plus since launch. A week ago I finally upgraded to the smaller iPhone 8.

Main reason was the physical size and weight of the 6 plus is really noticeable to me so I wanted to try something smaller. Some pants I don't notice the 6 plus too much, but the recent pants (for some reason the pockets feels smaller) I really feel to the of the phone when I sit down. And most of my pants are from Old Navy and Gap for reference... The 6 plus in gym shorts is really noticeable. And in parks, if I have to run to my kids, I really notice it in my shorts and always hold the pocket with the phone. Even going down playground slide with kids, the 6 plus is really noticeable and always in danger of slipping out of gym shorts (which it has a few times in the past). When I use use it one handed, its always a balancing act. But the screen size is awesome and the battery life is awesome. Its pretty much the phone I want to use when I'm sitting down..but not the phone I want to carry around.

I recently went on a short trip out of town with just the iPhone 8. In any of my pants and gym shorts, I don't really notice the iPhone 8 in the pockets. Pulling out the phone is super easy, and its easy to access the whole phone single handed. Even for web browsing its fine (but I do miss the larger screen). The battery life is adequate.

I do occasionally get minor urge to bite the bullet and exchange for the iPhone 8 plus for the larger screen and battery though. But I really don't want to deal with the physical size and weight (especially it even heavier than the iphone 6 plus). That said, I did keep my iphone 6 plus (as my kids "media" device) and I do have an ipad mini so I'm fine with the smaller screen of the 8. If the iphone was my only iOS device though, I'd probably switch to the plus version.

There's no right on wrong with either phone. To me, its mostly a preference thing.

Let's say I did want to try one, but just try one before committing or giving up my 8.

I am on Verizon device payment with my 8.

Verizon's site says to upgrade I would need to pay off half my device and trade it in. It does say that you can send in the old device after you get the new one. So, it sounds like I can have two devices in my possession at one time, for a short while at least.

So let's say I do that, and let's say I use them both for a few days and decide the 8 plus isn't for me. Then do I just send the old one back and put the sim card back in the 8 and continue on with life as before?

I would never go back to a small phone... phone calls are what I use my phone the least for.

I also gave my iPad away because of the iPhone plus size.

Sure, but doing almost anything on plus phone on the move is cumbersome. Not talking about one handed usage, at least for me almost impossible. Yeah, while sitting on the couch, plus is awesome, but eg. during walk on the street, ux hell:)

5’8” here...went from 6 to 7+ to X.

7+ was a great phone but was a definite two-hander for me.

X is the best of both worlds for me personally...

5'8" and while not an iPhone user, I use the Note 8. Probably
one of the largest out there. Love it. Will never go back to a small screen.

Went from a launch day iPhone 6 to a iPhone 8+. At first I was a little put off by the weight of the thing. In a case, it is definitely more hefty than my old iPhone 6 was. But it's a larger phone that is all glass instead of the aluminum iPhone 6.

But I got used to the weight pretty quickly. And as far as the size goes, I really didn't need much adjustment time for that at all. Yes it's bigger, but to me it's not THAT much bigger than my iPhone 6. And I like the more useful screen -- especially when trying to type on the screen. Just for that reason alone, I don't think I can go to a smaller screen size now.

I see this mentality a lot these days - A plus size phone means I don’t need an iPad. The issue for me is that a plus size phone is not the same as an iPad. Especially when it comes to multitasking. Having 2 or more apps open at the same time while another floating on top is really an awesome feature that people don’t give credit for. My iPhone, iPad and Mac all have their specific usage that can’t either be fulfilled by the other or will be really cumbersome.

I just couldn’t find a use for the iPad or an iPod anymore... the large phone and a MacBook does everything I ever need.

Never took the iPad out of the house even once... in fact, I never used it again after going to the large iPhone.

Felt good to give it away to an elderly relative.

The Note 8 handles multi tasking brilliantly. Just saying ;-)

Not at the level of an iPad though. In fact such split screen implementation is kind of pointless on a small screen. I think Samsung just crams in such features to appeal to people which ain’t really useful in real world use.

I had the iPhone 6 and 6s but part of me wanted the Plus size both times. When I got the iPhone 7 Plus I was completely blown away and it took like 1.5 seconds for me to get used to it. I love watching videos on it.

The one feature that is completely underrated, is landscape mode. I don’t use it very often, but it’s the one distinct feature the iPhone Plus models do incorporate and it’s nice to have an alternative view point When you want it.

Yes, of course the screen is a limitation, but for the occasional use it does the job. Last couple of days I was at a conference, and didn't want to carry my MacBook, and could do my spreadsheet and mail on split screen. The stylus makes the whole thing easier than a phone with just a touch screen input method.

I love the stylus too.

Completely agree. Only if more app developers supported iPhone landscape mode.
