Plz help me conect my mac book pro to Dynex TV.

I bought Mini display port to VGA Adapter and VGA display cable and i connected then to the tv and into my comp then i turn my tv to "AV1" and turned my comp on. NOTHING happened. i cant get any display on the comp. what am i doing wrong? plz give me steps of how to actully get a display. i am pluged into the VGA on my Dynex tv

i just got the normal wallpaper you get in defalt mac up on my tv now i cant do anything. nothing i do shows up on the tv

That is because you have your desktop extended rather than mirrored. If you drag a window off the right side of your desktop, it should appear on your tv. If you go to System Preferences->Displays, you can also check an option for display mirroring that will put the same thing on both displays.

You need to put your TV on the VGA setting, not AV1. AV1 is for composite input.

well it sounds like it is working fine then. Have you tried dragging anything from the laptop display to the TV?
