Pocket Weather World with Push is Out!

Hi All, thanks for all your posts, to answer some questions:
Apple currently doesn't support negative temperatures in the push notification. We're still waiting to hear back from them on an enhancement request we lodged with them. I have to be honest though and say that I doubt they'll ever allow it.
Min/Max is the norm here in Australia. The reason being that the min is considered the temp in the wee hours of the morning, while the max is what it will get to later in the day. The temperature for that night is the min for the next day. If people really feel that strongly about it though, we could add it as a configuration option?
The idea about the numbers for temps is an interesting one, but I think it would be hard for most people to remember what on earth 5 means vs 3.
The horizontal to vertical transition is not controlled by us, it's just part of the iPhone SDK. Eg: it tells you when someone rotates their iPhone. I agree that it can be a bit of a pain at times, especially when you're not holding your iPhone upright.
Nighttime icons are a good idea, and we already have them, we just haven't turned them on. It's on our todo list though 🙂
The AU version will be getting push in the upcoming version as well. The ideal would be to just have one app, but at the moment the complexity in both the data sets and the licensing is making that hard.
In terms of upcoming versions:
Pocket Weather World 1.0.1: released to Apple contains bug fixes only.
Pocket Weather World 1.1: Will have warnings & radars
Pocket Weather AU 2.0: Will have push and a whole lot more.

I'm sure there's generic SDK kit for the rotation position and then the apps' rotation speed (i.e. how it appears).
That being said, the following apps, each in their respective categories, have a much less jumpy transition speed (it's a smooth rotation), and less sensitive horizontal to vertical and vertical to horizontal position location (almost have to be at the end of the rotation before it changes) on my 3GS running 3.0.1, than Pocket Weather World. Beejive (a top 10 app), Navigon (top 3), Kindle (top 1), Newsstand (top 5).
All the built in apps also (of course definitely some more customization on Apple's part) have less sensitivity and a smoother rotation appearance (Safari being the worst on position dependence).

Pleeeease, make it an option. Remember that most users of the Pocket Weather World app are NOT in Australia, and I'm sure most of 'em are used to seeing the day temperature followed by the night temperature. Apple does it this way, so does any other weather app out there.
P.S. I've always hated landscape mode in any app, so make it an option too, please. 😉
When do you think you can add this? I'm reluctant to buy this app because I know that the lack of the nightime icons would drive me nuts. 🙂

I purchased your app several days ago...and I would agree with many of the others that your app is very nice.
I am however having an issue. I live in Folsom, CA and for the last 3-4 days the "next days" forecast has been "Sunny, Drizzle" w/ the icon showing a "Sun w/ a Cloud showing rain". There has been no forecast for rain in weeks here. It has been sunny, clear, and in the high 90s here the last few week and the forecast is that this 3will be the case over the next week.
What's going on? None of the other weather reporting apps/websites incl. Accuweather, AWS, and the Weather Channel have reported drizzle over the last 3-4 days?
I've tried deleting my location and re-entering it...but I still get the drizzle w/ the rain cloud? Is this an app bug?

That is where they get the data from, mines been right so far, showed fog and i walked out and sure enough, it was foggy! (fog in FL reminds me i don't miss living on the Central Coast in CA!)
Yup. According to the site, tomorrow will be 'Sunny. Hot.' According to the app, tomorrow is 'Sunny. Drizzle.' It's been that way for the past few days, with not a cloud in the sky.
I just checked one of my entries - La Quinta, CA.
It's showing "Sunny. Drizzle" for tomorrow, the CW website is showing Sunny. Hot. (as in, 107 degrees HOT! LOL!!).
Which is actually kind of strange.... LAQ and LV are at least in the same "region" and if they were getting mucked data then it would make some sense. Folsom throws a wrench in there.... unless there is something mucked.
OK, i just checked another entry - on the coast in CA, and it's showing the same Sunny. Drizzle. Weather Channel isn't showing nary a chance in any of them.
SOOOOOO, i don't know who is getting mucked data - but it's somewhere.

If this app is getting their weather feeds from customweather .com I'm not seeing that on my iPhone. App shows drizzle tomorrow and the website doesn't. Something is wrong with the app or the feeds.
I'm thinking it's a feed problem. Since it appears to be a "west coast problem", but hopefully providing the cities for them to check on will help. I have no fear that they will work to sort it out.
Maybe i should go do a screen shot for them in case they need to see it?

I'm in Irvine, CA and have been getting "Sunny, Drizzle" all week. It shows like that in the mornings and later in the day changes to normal. Crazy cause we've been having a heat wave this week with temps in the 90's and 100's and I wake up to see "Sunny, Drizzle" on the forecast.

I don't think this is a west coast problem, I think it's an all over problem. 🙂
I live in PA, and so far, the forecasts have been WAY off base. Nearly all week, I have seen the app give predictions like heavy rains, tons of rain etc. etc, while all the while it's been 70-80 degrees with perfectly clear skies. (Including today's forecast, which is already way off base from every other source0.
I'm starting to regret my impulse purchase of this app.
Mine has been correct down here, even showing the rain for 60 miles away and not here.
But without posting and/or going thru there support, they won't know something is wonky and can't fix it. Or have the info to go to their PAID content provider and ask them what the heck is going on.
In you case, have you checked the website to see if it is also wonky?
I have confidence from what I have seen that the developers will be wanting to get to the bottom of it.
Now off to go see what it's showing for today.

I don't think it's an app problem. Most likely poor reporting from the weather systems that update the weather feeds that this app uses.

Oh I agree, however, the fact that it is pretty much useless at this point, is rather frustrating. I bought the app on a whim, thought it looked excellent, and it does, however, this stuff should have been worked out before it was released as a finished product.

I have looked at the web site, and the forecast is "similar", however, with that said, I still feel like more of a beta tester here than someone who should have paid for this app. I'll give it some time, as I do believe the developer has created a good product, but frankly, until these things are worked out, it should have been released as either a free, or a .99 cent app.

Just adding one more example - today. (Allentown\Lehigh Valley area of PA). The app is telling me we will have increasing cloudiness and "heavy rain". Weather.com tells me it will be sunny until tonight, when there is a chance of rain. Customweather.com is telling me it will be mostly sunny, chilly, with a chance of rain later. Should I roll the dice on what to where today?
I know I have a few quick posts here that sound like I'm frustrated, and I am a bit, but I'm trying to say I don't think this is an isolated issue, and it should be addressed quickly, or the app should be pulled from the store until it is resolved.
I just bought the app. It seems nice and i like the push temperature. I would like to see an hourly forecast added if that is possible. Thanks
