Podcasting on iPad

Riddle me this...

My 8th grade students want to create podcasts about different events throughout history.
1) Is there a podcasting App for the iPad?
2) Does the ipad even have the functionality to create a podcast?
 
There are some apps for this - still very limited (Caster and Multitrack DAW)

You can also get USB Mics or a USB Mixer and use the iPad camera connection to use them as input - pretty fantastic - iPadPossibilities.com
