Podcasts not on podcast page

I have recorded programmes on Audio Hijack and transferred them to iTunes, changed the type to podcast and synced to iPhone. They don't appear on the podcast page, but are there when I search for them. What gives?

There is no provision in itunes to load a podcast externally. You can load an audio file and tag it as podcast but it is still going to show in music, not in podcasts.
