Im having problems with the stock podcast app not syncing very good on OS6 :(

Need to try out the other ones out there
Yes I have some of the same issues. Try out Overcast. I found that if you add their complication to your watch face, downloading to the watch works pretty well. Not perfect but better than the stock app

I’m a fan of overcast. Especially as you can resume between watch and phone.
but you can’t stream. So I use outcast for that

I am new user of an AW and heavy podcast user. Been using the Apple podcast app but I am obviously too stupid to understand, what is being synced from iPhone to AW.

Just installed Outcast and it looks promising. Does it really sync the position of the podcast I was listening back and forth? Tried it for a few minutes, but only the direction iPhone to AW seemed to be working.

My simple use case is to go for a run with only my AW, listen to a podcast, come home and continue from the same position to listen from my iPhone and back again.

Does this work? What has to be configured/done?

It does work but you need to ensure it’s had time to sync

No. But you can configure overcast to auto download to watch but you have to run the app

Thanks. Using the app now for a few days and am very happy. Podcasts seem to sync reliably to my watch. A lot different than the factory app where I never understood what happened next.

Yeah, Overcast is pretty darn good. But the Apple app syncs back to my Mac running Catalina now that the podcast app is separate. Another thing is Overcast notifies more promptly new episodes, where as the Apple app takes longer to poll.

Ah ok, I was using iTunes to sync my podcasts back and forth with my Garmin. But as I switched to an AW now, I don't need it anymore. Overcast looks very promising, especially as "Now playing" jumps to the podcast I was listening to and not sporadically to something entirely different like the Apple app.

And you are right: notifications from Apple app were more or less only working in 60% of all cases. Never figured out what the algorithm behind is.

Well settings for polling has 1 hour as the default. But not sure how it polls.

Seems I found a way to force a sync to my AW with Overcast. Closing the app on the AW seems to do the job (long press side button until the switch off screen appears followed by a long press on the crown). Afterwards when I put my AW on the charger, the podcasts transfer immediately.

Found an even better way to force a transfer from a podcast to my watch and putting the watch on the charger is not even necessary.
Open Overcast on the iPhone, send a podcast to your watch, change to the transfer screen leave it open and open Overcast on your AW. After "preparing" phase, the transfer starts immediately and it even shows a % indicator on the iPhone.
