Does the front have a raised edge to prevent the screen from touching a surface?

Is the back hard plastic or soft?

Is there any reason to believe it would scratch the phone?

Yes, it does have a lip so it could be laid flat on the table without the screen touching, and the back is hard plastic. I used mine a couple of times and don't have any scratches on my phone, but I'm extremely careful in putting it on and taking it off. Just be sure you don't get any foreign material between the case and your phone (between ANY case and your phone) and that'll eliminate a lot of the possibility for scratching.

Will Poetic Atmosphere fit with iPhone 5 if I put the skin on the back and sides?

Back AND sides? I doubt it. It's a snug fit. Not much wiggle room there.

Definitely wont fit with side and back protections. I had trouble taking the case out so I just switched to a bumper. Not risking damage to the phone because of the tight fit.
