The good people at Poetic have sent me their Clarity series case for the iPad Pro 9.7 in exchange for my honest and unbiased review here. Poetic has been a champion of providing quality cases at very reasonable prices. Like the Clarity case for my Apple Watch, the Clarity case for the iPad Pro 9.7 is a very solid and simple TPU case. Here's my pros and cons about the case:

    Pros:
    1. The smooth clear back of the case shows off the color of the iPad, which is very nice. Doesn't affect the appearance of the iPad Pro at all.
    2. A slot on the side of the case to securely hold the Apple Pencil is another genius move on Poetic's part. I'm glad that they've thought ahead on this when it came to iPad Pro owners and the Apple Pencil.
    3. On the left side of the case is where the iPad can be connected to either a Smart Cover or a Smart Keyboard, to offer more protection on the front of the device.
    4. It's nice of them to put those little thank you cards inside with the case. It definitely shows how Poetic stands behind their products and how they care about providing excellent customer service.

Cons: As far as I know, there are none.

While the Clarity doesn't offer as much protection as some shells do, this will definitely appeal to those iPad Pro owners who are looking for a quality case that doesn't add a whole lot of extra heft while still maintaining a relatively thin profile. The Clarity case for the 9.7 inch model will be right up their alley, especially since the Apple Pencil will be flush with the case via the added holder on the side, and will be at the ready if one wants to work, etc. Another A+ product from Poetic!

Is the slot really good? I am thinking about getting this case as it has support for the ASK should I ever decide to buy it, but otherwise I just want a simple case. But I'm thinking that when your Pencil is not being stored in the slot, isn't it just annoying having ti come out at the edge there? or is it okay?

I have mixed feelings about how the Pencil slot "juts out" though....

Does it add a lot of weight? I'm tempted to pick one up for my 12.9" Pro, but am wondering if it will add as much weight as the Poetic Quarterback...

Yeah it's pretty heavy. If you're trying to minimize weight this isn't really a great option.

EDIT: Interestingly enough the 12.9" version is not a clear back, but a "frosted" variant. It doesn't have the jutting out issue for the Pencil holder that the 9.7" one does though.

I actually bought both variants, but the irony is that I still haven't bought a 9.7" iPad Pro (waiting for a tax-free discount on the 256GB Cellular)
