Yes, I second that - can some people recommend apps for 2-4 years of age? I prefer not subscription based, but paying one time is okay if it is excellent.Another one in the “no subscription” crowd. I have reluctantly subscribed to a few of my very favourite apps, but as much as I love Alto's adventure, I do not want to be subscribing to something that my kids may or may not play with.
Can anyone recommend some fun and educational apps for my 2 and 5-year-olds? Come to think of it my 5 year old would probably enjoy Alto's adventure but would prefer to stick to something more educational for him...
I use OSMO for my kids, as it is very educational, has no subscription, and is just a up front cost for the manipulative and the camera/stand. Top notch educational focuses - highly recommended even for basic programming blocks as well. I am a parent of 2 under 6 years old and a teacher of 20+ years. Have a great day!Another one in the “no subscription” crowd. I think a case could be made that Google's Play Store had a lot to do with apps becoming "free". When the iOS App Store was new (and still pretty unique) Apps were mostly $1-2 but without IAP payments "free" usually meant free. AFAIK Android introduced IAP and saw a greater push for "free" apps that subsided on aggressive advertising.Sadly, this is the world the App Store created. People want FREE, because of the race to the bottom that was created in the beginning of iOS apps. Now IAP currency in games and subscriptions in other apps are how they sustain updating the apps. I hate it, but here we are.
What’s against the subscription? Just sign up and immediately cancel autorenewal. Big deal. I actually like the subscription model because it prevents me from having to shell out $20 at a time. I have very few subscriptions: iCloud, Apple Music, Nomorobo, and the 46 others that are probably billing my credit card that I don’t know I have.![]()
Thanks, I'll give the animals one a try on my 2 year olds iPad. I expect he'll like the vehicles ones too.Hands down, the best family of apps purchased for kids is the VideoTouch series. One time purchase, can be bundled, works across devices, kids will be entertained for countless hours.
They are just simple, straightforward videos. Nothing flashy. Perfect for developing brains.
