Fuji makes and will continue to make the 3x4 instant pack film.

Fp-100C, Fp-100B, FP-3000B

So, when Polaroid stops making 667, 690, 669 there is still film available for pack film cameras, albeit not as good for image transfers or emulsion lifts, but useful nonetheless.

It is the 600/spectra integral films that people are truly worried about. (the shake it like a polaroid type) There is no substitute and no alternative to the process. Those who say digital, photo printers etc are the wave, are truly fooling themselves.

There is nothing to equal the tangibility of an instant print. Sure,, you can print your digital photos, but Ill be on the beach with my stack of photos while you look for an outlet! I only need my camera and some film. Youd need a digicam, a printer, paper, possibly a computer, and power to just hint at possibly instant prints.

Grab the integral film while you can, $1/shot may be a thing of the past, only time will tell.

i've always wanted a polaroid. now i cant decide if i should get one now while i still can get film, or not get one at all so that i'm not too disappointed if i end up loving it

Because nobody has yet posted the site here is www.unsaleable.com. They make their own limited supplies of Polaroid film.

No they dont make their own. They look far and wide for discontinued stuff and buy it up in bulk. (basically so no one else can compete) and then they sell it for a large markup. And if you arent in the EU, you might as well just not buy from them.

Case and point is their available Polaroid cameras, 3-5x the actual pricing youd see anywhere else. But whatever, Im just a bitter person.

the peel apart "packfilm" is still available and will be for years because Fuji makes 3 types now and in the future:

FP-100C (polaroid 669) color
FP-100B (polaroid 664) BW
FP-3000B (polaroid 667) BW

There are millions of packfilm cameras out there. Granted, most are dirty, grimey, and probably not working. But there are people like me who refurb them and make them new so people interested in instant photography have a chance to try it.

PM me if you want more info on some packfilm cameras I have for possible sale.

If you want an awesome camera, go for an SX-70, which take the shake it like a polaroid film. But, no one has picked up the manufacturing process, so in a years time, it may be useless but awesome looking nonetheless.

i bought a one step flash for a dollar at the thrift store yesterday. i immediately went to the drugstore and bought some 600 film. it's expensive but so much fun.

now i want a pull apart one

i'd love to experiment with transfers, but i have NO idea how they work. i know nothing about photography

Doing transfers takes time, patience, and practice. A healthy dose of googling can also go a long way.

The Polaroid peel apart films are easy to transfer. But Fuji requires a bit more technique which, again, Google can help you find.

If its a camera to take peel apart film you want, and you've got at least $35, PM me Ill take care of ya!

If you all liked it so much, you should have bought some and supported the company. They obviously didn't get enough people to spend money on their film to continue on.

As a "younger person", I say "Lets move on." ;)

I thought it was irony at first (because of the :)), but then I realised it wasn't. I'm not sure you're in a position to comment negatively when you admit further down that you don't know anything about it (at least, nothing about the creative potential of it).

Oh, ok. I'm sorry, for a moment there I just thought you had actually created legit work with Polaroid film. I didn't know you were basically someone sitting on the sidelines, observing others doing it.

Thanks. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but it's just really annoying to receive news like this and then have some random kid who doesn't even use the product come in and tell us "we should have bought more."

don't worry FrankieT, I'm a kid too (well I'm 24 in three weeks--younger than Abstract--so I think I probably qualify as a kid still lol) and I'm sorry to see Polaroid film go. I never had a chance to use any, apart from shooting a couple of pictures of me making silly faces with my uncle's box, but I've seen some really interesting stuff made using it, and I'm sorry I'll never get the chance to play around with it :( I too hope somebody will step in and fix that, like they did with Ilford a few years back, and I can totally understand where people are coming from when they say it feels like cheating to get the effect in Photoshop. Kinda like the difference between cooking your own food, and ordering the same stuff from a caterer--much more fun to do the first!

You most likely, cross your fingers, will never see the ubiquitous "shake-it-like-a-Polaroid" integral 600 series film anymore...

The last created batch expires August 2009. So, while you can certainly keep it past then, the pricing will reflect what happened to Time-Zero film in '06...$5 a shot and up...on film sometimes expired 3+yrs.

On the other hand, Fuji makes and will continue to make the peel apart 100/660 series type films. FP-100C (669 polaroid equiv), FP-100B (664 equiv), FP-3000B (667 equiv).

So, while you can certainly NOT buy a camera to take this kind of film in the store, there are certainly MILLIONS of them out there, waiting for you to come along and give them a home. The site in my sig shows you how to clean/refurb them easily and painlessly.

Polaroid may be dead, but instant photography cant die anymore than creativity could....fingers still crossed.

So right, world is changing

Yeah, I was a passionate consumer of instant films, but today you can achieve that look with some Photoshop actions and believe, a few of them give a very realistic look to your digital images.

Not quite sure why you dug up an old thread but it was much more than just a look.

There was the instant nature, the depth of field and the great colours and clarity that came straight from the camera.

Personally I have a 180 land camera and still shoot fp100c and fb3000b. I did have to sell my sx70 as the impossible project was just too pricey and too inconsistent with its results.
