I had the same issue!

I went with the 2.26 and got the free iPod touch! What a deal!:D

I just got my MPB last Sunday after years of waiting. I have been forced to live in a PC world and I give PC's seizures a few times a year. I love my MBP i am still getting used to being back on Mac last time i used one was in the 80's.

Only issue I am having is my connectivity my PC's keep the Wi-FI signal at my home but the Mac keeps telling me it's off line then 20 secconds later it's back?!?!?! Im using a 2wire base that came from ATT with my package I think thats the problem. Anyone?

Anyone got Benchmarks of the 2.26GHz and 2.53GHz with Snow Leopard?? I'm also stuck with which one to get!!
I want to do:
Word Processing
Photoshop
Intenet
iTunes
DVD Ripping
SketchUp
Few Games... Sims etc
Etc....

Which one is best??

for games it's doesn't really matter, as the bottleneck here is the 9400m, not the cpu.

dvd ripping and photoshop you may see some benefit with the 2.53....what i mean by benefit is instead of something taking 66 seconds to do on the 2.27 will take around 60 seconds on the 2.53, or 66 mins/ 60 seconds. whether this difference is worth the price difference is really up to you. i personally bought the 2.27, as I can't justify the price for an 2.53.

I'm finding it hard! Because when I rip DVD I have a queue of DVDs to do so I just leave my computer alone!
The Macbook Pro is for school and I'm thinking that 2.53GHz might help... but then in about a year I might sell and get an upgraded one if I'm finding the 2.27GHz too slow

$180 for .27GHz is the biggest waste of money I've ever heard.

The fact that the P8400 and the P8700 both retails in the public marketplace for the same price of $225 shows that the P8700 is used by Apple as a marketing ploy.

Add to the fact that 3rd party RAM/HD is almost always faster and you have a bad deal.

You are essentially giving Apple at least $200 in gross profit (on top of the profit of the 2.26) if you go with the 2.53.
+1. Most logical comment in this thread. Same goes for anyone thinking about spending the money on the 3.06GHz proc in the 15" and 17".
