Would you like to see Apple Pencil on Ipad Air 3?

I wonder how many people that said "no" bought an iPad pro and don't want to share the wealth... Thankfully it's not up to them :)

Just like options in an automobile, it will move to other models. How long is the question.

Would I like to see it? Sure. Will it actually happen? Not a chance. Apple is marketing the ipad pro as a productivity device with one of its main features being the apple pencil. Adding pencil functionality to the ipad air 3 would not only cannibalize the ipad pro to a certain extent, but those looking for a pad for drawing and portability im sure would go with the ipad air 3 given the choice. Apple doesn't want people to have a choice.

Was Apple fearful of cannibalizing full-sized iPad sales when they produced the iPad Mini?

I think a better way to look at it is that iPad sales are falling, and they're happy to sell whichever one people are willing to buy. By not giving the Air 3 Pencil support, they're basically losing sales to people who want a stylus on an iPad for more casual than productive activities, or at best delaying the sale until there's a 10" iPad that does support it.

As someone in that camp, even though I'd love to use the Pencil, there is no chance I'm buying a Pro just to get it. The Pro and the Air are two different use cases in many ways, but both can benefit from a precision input device.

I know a lot of people are wanting the Air3 to get Pencil, and I do think that Apple will have a smaller device to use with it but I think it will be later and I think it will be a Pro Mini device. I just don't think the Air is going to get it, I think the Air devices and Pro devices will be kept separate just as the Mini devices are.

We are all just guessing and voicing opinions, no one knows anything for sure until Apple is ready for us to know.

The Air specifically is about its lightness/weight/, I just don't see them changing screens, and bigger battery enough in the Air to accommodate the Pencil.

Personally, I love my IPP, but just because I do doesn't mean that I don't want the Pencil used anywhere else...that's just silly. But we all know that the Pencil was created for the Pro line and I think that's where it will stay, a smaller screen Pro device, maybe next year. I would really be shocked if they added it to the Air3, but it wouldn't upset me, I like using it with a bigger screen but every person has their preferences.

Good point. If they can add Pencil support to the Air with only a slight increase in weight -- say, back to Air1 level weight, I think they would do that. If not, I don't think they will. However, I think having a iPad Pro mini alongside an Air3 is a terrible idea. Just too much product fragmentation. Either they will have an Air3 with Pencil, or Pencil will remain exclusive to the 12 inch Pro.

I think they will add pencil support. I know at least 3 people in addition to myself that will not buy an iPad pro because it's to big and heavy... However we would all buy a pencil for our airs in a heartbeat. People who want a pro are going to get a pro. But there are a lot of people who just don't want something that big... And I don't think that having the pencil being exclusive to the pro is going to convince many people to purchase something that they otherwise would not. There is probably a short window where a few people will do that... Probably why Apple did not release the Air 3 right away. They want to leave a bit of s window for compulsive buyers...

Apple would be missing out on to much revenue by not making the iPad Air 3 pencil compatible. In fact, I predict that the iPhone 7 Plus will also support the pencil.

There is no legit reason to vote no on this. If you dont like the apple pencil then dont use it. It doesnt hurt anyone by having the support for it. No ones forcing anyone to use a feature that can safely be ignored. The only reason people have to vote no is because they dont want someone else to get a feature they paid 1000 dollars for. when you consider the amount of wanna be styluses that have been developed over the years finally having a legit stylus for the device is a step forward and shouldnt be held back for that reason alone.

There are many third party stylus that work fine for the iPad line up, so think about what you just said, "consider the amount of wanna be stylus that have been developed over the years", why do you think those folks haven't developed something like the Pencil? Because you have to make a device solid enough to support all those great Pencil capabilities. I'm not an IPad designer/ developer but I'd make an educated guess that just pushing a few buttons around isn't what makes the Pencil awesome. There were many changes made to the IPad for this all to work together.

I can't speak for anyone else but I didn't pay 1000.00 for a feature, I paid for the newest, top of the line, fastest, best sounding tablet that Apple makes...I paid 99.00 for the Pencil that works very well with this device.

Last but not least, this thread was just a poll, people's opinion, so every person who chooses to can express said opinion. Each and every opinion is legit even if you don't agree with it. I strongly doubt that this poll/opinions is going to hold back Apples decision as to what they are or are not going to do with the Air3, only time will tell.

Having the latest and best is pretty much the definition of shallow and the very reason apple fans are disliked given most people just will use Facebook and twitter; something that pretty much any device can do.

I want the pencil to draw and paint on the go as it its truly a killer device for artists that have had to deal with wacom and the other styli. I couldn't care less if I have "the latest" I just want to draw and paint with privacy.

The reason other styli don't works is that (currently) only the iPad pro is designed to be used with a stylus whereas others like 53, adonis and wacom have to do their best with workarounds.

If having the latest and best model is shallow then I guess you must feel like everyone who updates is a shallow person, I was commenting on where my 1000.00 was spent and it wasn't on a single "feature". I'm not one to worry about who dislikes me because I'm an Apple fan, and does it really matter what anyone does on their devices, Facebook or Twitter, or professionals? I like to paint and draw on the go too, same as you.
I don't understand this division, who is or not an Apple fan, I was under the impression that this was "Macrumors.com", silly me....thought we were all interested in the same products.

I wasn't talking about you. I have no reason to dislike you at all, you have a different point of view and I respect it.

I only expressed my disagreement with a generalized point of view.
