Where do you see a light? I see a green dot on the bottom, but it's not a light.

Oh, I thought that was what the green dot was. :(

It looked like an LED to let you know how much charge the phone has. Red for charging/empty, and green when it becomes fully charged. That would be a nice feature because when you look on the phone all you see is the lightning bolt and that doesn't tell you how charged it is.

What is the green dot for then? Just wondering.

From the front page:
Apple notes that replacement adapters, which will not be available until October 10th, will contain a green dot on them in order to make identification simple.

The iPhone already clearly shows how much charge is completed and how much is remaining.
The green dot is just a mark to indicate that it is one of the new plugs and not one of the old plugs.

what if you die? I wouldn't take a chance...electrocution vs. money...hmmm...lol

Two problems with this. First off, the replacement is free - no money involved. Second, if you have the problem, you won't die. Unless you are extremely stupid and touch the prong after it's sticking out of the socket. If it happens to you, just shut off the power in the room the outlet is in and then remove the prong, preferrably using something insulated just in case.

who will trade me their 2.5G charger for my replacement 3G charger? I always liked it better. PM me if your interested.

It looks like a good 20% of people aren't exactly going to just run over to the Apple Store and get a new plug. "If it ain't broken yet, then it don't need fixin!"

Thank you.

Filled out a form on apple.com for them to send me a new one. I'm going to keep the old one as a backup because I have an extra ipod usb cable. why send it back when they are going to dump it anyway? might as well keep it for good use.

I received a text message through AT&T today informing me of the recall with a link to order the new adapter. I had already signed up for the replacement adapter anyway, but I thought it was pretty cool that Apple & AT&T got the word out to everyday iPhone users that don't look at this site.

When did you receive a text message?
I have not received a text message from Apple yet about the AC adapter.

It's so easy to exchange and it's free... Why not?

  1. Fill out form
  2. Recieve new product
  3. Put old one in free envelope and send
  4. Shower
  5. Enjoy

Simple enough.

I will use it till breaks then sue :apple: when i get injured removing the prong from the wall outlet. I'm sure there is a lawyer willing to take that case on:D

You can't after they issued a recall and since they informed you ;).

I kept my old one from my first gen and gave the new one that came with my 3g to the person i sold it to because it looked cheap right out of the box. Glad i did. Its their problem now.

WHOA !!! Stop a second and think about what you just said. This just made history. In the past, when a company recalled a product they would notify the news media to spread the word on television, and the company would purchase ads in magazines and newspapers to notify the public of the recall, and they would hope everyone was made aware. For bigger ticket items, where they had your name and address on file, they would mail you a letter. APPLE JUST SENT EVERYONE A TEXT MESSAGE, INFORMING OF THE RECALL ! It only took them a second to push the majic button, and inform everyone.
(technically, they sent out several mass messages throughout the day, but you get the point)

(we should bribe some kid that works for AT&T to send a hoax message that says "Big Brother Is Watching You." LMAO!!!!!!!! Hahahahaha!!!!) :D

Erm, I'm not gonna waste my time going to an apple store to exchange it. I've already ordered my free replacement online. It will be shipped to me in the next 3 weeks.
