Hi,

As the subject says, does one prefer to use the Automatic iOS system Updates (not app updates), but iOS security updates or checking the updates manually?

The Automatic Updates seems pointless to me because the phone needs to be charged overnight, but on the flip side, by checking the updates manually, sometimes people forget to do that leaving their iOS devices vulnerable to security threats.

That is the reason for this thread: Automatic Updating or checking Manually?

Which one is preferred or the one you use?

I just wish iOS allowed you to hold an update. There have been times that an app update has been reported as broken, and I'd basically have to turn off automatic updates and not be able to use "Update All" until the app was fixed because Apple can't be bothered to add such a basic feature.

I'm a rolling stone.
Snip...
checking the updates manually, sometimes people forget to do that leaving their iOS devices vulnerable to security threats./Snip

Why are people so damned concerned about security threats, I am using Macs since 2000 and iOS since 2010, I had never any problems with such threats, and believe me, 99.999% won't have them either.
I am not sure if you are American but I do find them to go overboard with it, and yes, I have been there a couple of times, for longer than just a holiday.

I update manually...beta's

Correct me if I’m wrong.

If Automatic updates are switched On, it doesn’t have to wait overnight to install the updates, I can just let it automatically download and hit Install Now option whenever I want?

Am I correct?

Let’s say that the security updates for iOS are automatically downloaded, but to actually Install the update doesn’t have to be overnight, and it can be installed whenever I want to?

As I remember from my previous iPhone, the Install Now option button would always be there once the updates are automatically downloaded? Yes or No?

Yes, you can install it before the overnight install. I'm on auto but almost always install before auto install.

Ok, I’m fine with that option if it doesn’t have to be installed exactly overnight but I can install whenever I want?

If that’s the case, I’m good with that.

You could have made this thread a poll, you know. I think its too late now, though.

If Automatic Updates is Off, will I still get notifications?

I am only referring to the iOS updates and NOT app updates.
