I have an iMac and wanted to move to a more portable solution. BUT I didn't want to give up the big screen and reasonable built-in audio. I also drunk the steve jobs cool-aid of reducing cabling. I wanted to see what they came out with. When I first saw the LED cinema display, I thought -- that's it! Maybe even paying the premium to get the speakers, cabling, etc. Then I saw the macbook and I thought it'd be a great pair.

Then I saw no FW. I LOVE FW drives. I have a USB as well, and the speed diff is amazing. I think I'll stick with my iMac for now. I have a PC for work, and I'll continue to use that for my mobile stuff. I'll wait and see if the spring brings a new rev. Maybe they'll put FW back in the MB, or come up with a new port approach that doesn't slow me down with USB drives.

When I found out that it would have a nVidia chipset/graphics card, I was definitely keen :)

But now seeing that it costs nearly 50% more (in NZ), I don't think I will anymore - which is a shame because the GMA X3100 is a total piece of **** when it comes to working with large documents in Photoshop and Illustrator on an external display :(

Thanks Apple for bringing my hopes up, then smashing it to pieces....
... but at least I still have my sexy white Macbook with it's Firewire port still in tact :p

The Nvidia chipset really got the attention of the geek in me! However on rational thought, this new MacBook is costing a lot. Moreover, the One True Reason™ for the Nvidia chipset is games -- tempting but not crucial. As for that glass LCD cover, I suppose it could grow on me, but not now.

One thing I can't quite get over is the colours used in these new MacBooks + Pros. The aluminium is a shade of light grey, but then they put a black bezel around the display and black keys? Yuck! Reminds me of the "panda" MacBook picture that is floating around. Ditch the black display bezel, and at least have the option of white keys (like those found on the Aluminium Keyboard), then I will revise my opinion of this look.

I have voted for "I was going to buy one, but now I don't think so.".

I got really excited when I heard the rumors about new MacBooks that will be released soon.
Then the whole nVidia stuff -> better graphics and all -> great!
But then I saw the design, and that was the first bummer - I just don't like the silver/black combination, that looks almost like my Compaq Notebook - but I guess I could get used to that,...
The real big disappointment followed last night, when the rumor came out that the $800 device is not a MacBook but a display. :(
And then this morning, when they announced the prices for the new MacBooks -> gave me the rest.

I guess I will get an "old" white MacBook then - or a MacMini, if Apple gives it an update,...
