This year Apple is not providing USB c brick with any of the new iPhones.
However, they are providing a USB c to lightning cable.
Do you already have a USB c brick available at home or will you have to buy one?

Yes, I have one from my iPad Pro's brick. I also have a Macbook Pro I can charge my phone with. I usually charge wirelessly since I have a stand by my desktop as I work though. I typically don't need to charge with cables.

I bought one soon after buying my 11. For the record I also have a few 5Ws and an iPad charger left over.

I have many so its not an issue for me, but I do think it's funny that Apple is all like 'you're going to pay the same and get less and it's better!'

I don't have one currently. But with the vast amount of rechargeable items floating through our home, it is time to update to a multi-device charger anyway. So I'll just buy the version with USB-A and USB-C options. In the meantime, I'll use USB-A cables/bricks to charge.

I have the 18w one that came with iPad Pro 2020. Contemplating a 20w purchase, but it just seems so stupid when all of my older chargers will work.

Yep, I replaced all my USB-A ones with USB-C ones a year or two ago when my iPad Pro came with one. Didn’t like having two types in use.

Bought a 29w brick to charge my my iPad 12.9 and my iPhone 8 years ago and it’s the best decision I’ve made when it comes to chargers.

It charges the phone so god damn fast. You should totally get one, I think they changed it to 30w now. It’s worth the price.

My vote is for option #5:

I have USBC power sources, but will simply keep using my existing Lightning/USBA & Qi chargepoints.

Something to keep in mind is that an online tech-related forum generally represents a small number of consumers, and for the most part, also generally a somewhat different type of consumer than a typical one.

Yes, (3) 30w from Anker. I’m considering whether or not I want to purchase a few more since I’ve gotten rid of the drawer full (slight exaggeration) of the 5w.

Yes. These are techies or tech enthusiasts and fanboys.

Annnnd this has been moved out of sight because Apple's green environment theory doesn't really serve the new iPhone 12 buyers.

Have 2 Apple 18 watt chargers. One came with my iPad Pro and the other with my 11 pro max. Luckily you don’t return the charger with the Apple Upgrade Program. Also have an Apple 30W charger I bought for my iPad Pro. Also have a couple of third party USB C adapters laying around as a lot of tech is now using USB C for charging (Nintendo Switch, Oculus Quest, etc.)
