Poll: Do You Want the Fortnightly Challenge Back?

Thanks for the input, everyone.

Ish: My current train of thought is to use March as a "sandbox", a test run of the Challenge with no commitment to keep it up. If it shows interest, it will be continued and if not, then not.

* Suggestions regarding the Weekly Contest need to be brought up in a seperate thread by someone who has participated in the contest. I toss a pic in now and then but I'm not in the possession to suggest changes.

Look for a comment/suggestion thread in a few days.

Dale, I think it's a great idea. It's always nice to have something to focus us on an "assignment" to improve our work and discuss it openly with others. None of your efforts will go unheeded, so I'm looking forward to see what comes of it.

If we had a poll on each Challenge, it would need an option for every picture that was posted. Seems like an awful lot of extra work.

The photos on the Challenge were always open to comments and feedback, especially when asked for. Is there any advantage in having the photos ranked? After all, a picture that looks as though no-one's bothered about it much could have been slaved over by someone new to photography. It'd be a shame to see someone's picture down at the bottom for all to see. Even the competition doesn't do that.

I'd vote for reviving the Challenge but keeping the same format.

Makes sense. There is quite a range of experience here from what I've seen, which is why I said I wasn't sure whether it would work.

I like the idea of adding it to the existing contest. Is it possible to add a poll to a thread or would a new thread have to be made for it?

I really like the idea of adding this. But would the poll be kept open forever or would it be open just for a couple days and then the winner will be announced? I think it should be tried for a couple of the upcoming contests to see if it even brings any voters or anything, because usually the old contest threads die away quickly after a new one is made.

It can always be tried, they do seem to be working great as they are, I'd hate to mess with the winning formula going on there... but giving it a try can't hurt if it gets to that stage.
They do die off relatively quickly, if you did want to give the idea a whirl start a thread and propose a trial for the change and see what people think, raising those questions. I'm pretty sure I've seen the option to make a poll after the thread, although I've never done it myself. (Maybe it's time for a Canon vs Nikon thread with poll to try ... kidding
