In view of several heated arguments about iPad2 Display issues, I have decided to open this poll.

Please try to limit your comments to describe how bad the problem is (for example: number of bad pixels or area of light bleeding issue).

You may continue your heated arguments on the already existing threads.

A little bit of backlight bleeding but nothing I would ever consider a problem, nor would I have even noticed it had I not read about it on here. Very, very minimal and only noticeable if I'm looking at the screen from up close.

Mine has a strange issue..

There is a little ~3 pixel area that has some kind of flaw.. if you display a white screen it looks yellowish, but there is nothing at all if you display a black screen. It doesn't really bother me, I just dont know what it is since its not a dead pixel.

Maybe its a little extra spec of glue or something? Maybe it will dissipate.

my screen was perfect. It seems like you're trying to emphasize the problems, rather than put them in perspective.

I'm not trying to emphasize the problems.
I'm just trying to put them in perspective to decide whether I should buy now or wait for a second batch.
This will also help clarify whether the problem is real and serious, or just limited to a few devices.

If your screen was perfect, great; it gives me some relief. Feel free to vote.

Must be due to the glue; according to Apple it should go away once it dries. (I hope so!).
Feel free to vote.

I did.

If you have a need for it now, and can get one, buy it now. If you don't, don't. If you can make do with the ipad 1, take advantage of the fire sale, and buy a used one for almost nothing, and then sell it in 3-6 months when the supply of the ipad 2 has stabilized, and the ipad1 price has rebounded a little.

I would imagine this is to be expected.
I believe that just as Apple sets higher standards with their products, we the users are also becoming more demanding. It' Apple's fault!!! :D

I actually have one already, which I'm trying to sell. but because I use it for both home and business, I can't do without it, so I'll need to buy an iPad2 and then sell my old iPad.
I have a potential buyer already, so I'm kind of rushing to get one.

Just a curious note: On Saturday, all local places were sold out on iPad 2, except one nearby Target store, which until Monday, had a couple 64GB Verizon units still in stock. I wonder whether Verizon or AT&T sold more devices than it's competitor.
Time for another Poll! :D

So far I like the results of this Poll, wish more people would vote and share their experiences with their new iPad2.

I'd guess they've sold as close to exactly the same number as is possible, given that everything is sold out. I think the demand is higher for the AT&T 3g tho, since those are being shipped overseas by resellers as fast as possible.

I'm going to try to buy one tomorrow morning. I was confirmed today that a nearby Apple Store is going to sell them at 9:00AM, so I gotta wake up early. :D

Well not everyone's is. Why do people without issues feel the need to condemn those that do as if they are making waves? Apple isn't perfect nor is the iPad 2. People are searching for answers, solutions, and knowledge, not knocking all magical Apple.

I've noticed this too, it does seem a little odd how defensive some people get about this back lighting issue.

I've been using my iPad nonstop since Friday night and I just noticed while watching a movie that I have some backlight bleeding but it is very minimal so I can't complain compared to what else I have seen. I have two spots top left corner and bottom right corner when the home button is on the left side. I'm sure I will live and one day not even notice it any more.

Because most of those that claim they have issues don't. We even have people asking how to 'test' for backlight bleeding. Do you see bleeding while using the device ? No, but when I turn up brightness to 100%, view a black page in a dark closet, I see bleeding. Damn Apple. Then there is the guys poll stating that you have an almost flawless screen if you have dead pixels, but flawed screen if if it flunks the bleed test. They even stated that they were afraid that most people dont know how to check for light bleeding and I guess they feel a need to 'educate' them.

It's ignorance like that being posted that brings condemnation.

I got a bad one :( I had light bleeding and a stuck Pixel in "white". It was probably better then having a dead pixel. At couldn't live with it so I don't have it anymore. I will try again in a few month hopefully I get a good one.

I guess you need to get your facts straight. It was me who opened the poll you are talking about and my intention was not to "educate" people in order to make them stressed about a non-issue. I merely wanted to indicate that the problem exists and that we all were very curious to see whether some iPad 2's are indeed flawless. If it was the case (that not all iPad 2's are affected by the bleeding problem), then some of us might be lucky to get a perfect iPad on the release day here in Europe (25 March).

iPad2 screen developed red haze

After 3 weeks my iPad2 developed a red haze that got worse over the next few days. See the attached picture. A check with images in the primary colors revealed that the color red was fluctuating in brightness. I returned it to the Apple store and am now waiting already for 2 weeks for the repair. Bad start after a month waiting for the delivery. Apple seems to have quality issues in the production of the screens.

Repair?? They didn't just exchange it for you on the spot?

I have moderate light bleed on mine on 3 corners. I'll get it replaced eventually when things settle down. It doesn't bother me as much right now.

Repair? I would have (nicely) insisted on a replacement.
