Repair?? They didn't just exchange it for you on the spot?

Maybe because it is not the "famous" backlight bleeding issue & that's why Apple don't replace it straightaway but insist on repairing it?

AndriesTieleman, hopefully, Apple fix your issue for you ASAP. Good luck. :)

Mine has a strange issue..

There is a little ~3 pixel area that has some kind of flaw.. if you display a white screen it looks yellowish, but there is nothing at all if you display a black screen. It doesn't really bother me, I just dont know what it is since its not a dead pixel.

Maybe its a little extra spec of glue or something? Maybe it will dissipate.[/]

Hi,

Hm, having the same issue here.

Question for user DS3 (and for all with same anomaly ;( ), did that 'white spot' eventually dissipated from Your iPad ?

I had moderate light bleed in one corner and above the button. I took it to the genius bar and was told I had to wait for the glue under the screen to dry and that my light bleed would resolve itself. I told him I had the Ipad for over 3 weeks and he admitted that would have been too long. He took it to the back to look at the screen in the dark. When he came back out he told me the light bleed that the Ipad had was hardly noticeable and that his Ipad was much worse. He told me that they would give me a one time exchange and if the new one had problems they would refund my money. The brown box Ipad they gave me thankfully has no problems. When I mentioned the news reports of problems with the LG displays he told me, "what light bleed problems?". He acted as if I was making the whole thing up.

Exchange in stead of repair?

Nope, they said in the store that they would submit it for repair first. Maybe they cannot replace them immediately since they still don't have enough stock. In the store you still have to order and then wait for delivery.

I have some light bleed on a dark screen at the lower edge of the display.

I also never would have even taken notice to it if it weren't for reading all the stories about people going through boxes of iPads looking for one without it.

It makes me think of the guy in "Clerks" who constantly searched for the perfect dozen eggs.

I'm sorry, I'm all about great quality but this is just not an issue at all. I don't care what product you're using, if you make it a point to search out defects you are most certainly going to find at least one.

Under normal use, the light that shines from the edge of the display is not visible. However, I have a nicely lit display with deep rich colors at all angles and all areas of the screen. It's just excess light showing between the edge of the display and the bezel. It's not shocking, it doesn't hurt anything and it's far from being a problem. I would be embarrassed to ask a company to eat the cost of a product like an iPad (and then pass that expense on to other customers) over an inconsequential issue like this.

That's what most people want. The fact that you would except something with a fault like this because you are embarrassed may not pass the cost onto others but it will probably pass on more faulty displays. :)

My iPad 2 has minimal back light bleeding, only noticeable in a completely dark room with the brightness turned all the way up. I would not have even been aware of it had I not read these forums.

What surprises me is that more people don't mention how much better the display is than the original iPad. I had my original and my iPad 2 for about 2 weeks before giving the original to a friend. I immediately noticed an improvement in brightness and color saturation on the new iPad. I even checked to make sure the brightness settings were the same. Is it just me or has anyone else notied this? Maybe my original iPad was defective in some ways?
