iPhone Replacements

I selected "1 - Minor Hitch" but not sure why you added " - Minor Hitch" to the selection. I was traveling on business and my iPhone 3G would not power up. I was able to find a local Apple Store and got it replaced but would not conside that a Minor Hitch.

It is very much a minor hitch compared to what I've been through. Next time this happens, I'm putting the 3G on eBay, and getting back a 1st gen. I kind of prefer them.

EDIT:I've seen quite a few people going through what they had the phones replaced for, so I'll post mine:

1st Gens:

1- BIG clump of dust under the screen
2- 'No Service'

Replaced at genius bar with 3G:

1- Broken Silent Switch
2- Cracks
3- 'No Service'
4- No 3G

Hehehe. Me too.
No problems with my 1st gen… but already worried about my (unanounced even) upgrade later this year.
*sigh*

My theory is the early round stock is more laden with errors as the manufacturers rush to get the stock out on time, especially with the demand the first two models had. Problems are found and get fixed over time. Then when you do like I did and get a refurb about 8 months later, you're much less likely to have problems.

I'll probably end up getting the next version pretty soon after it comes out, provided the economy doesn't drop kick me out of a job.

1 replacement on my first 2.5G iPhone only because the signal chip went to crap.

and my 3G isn't perfect, (1 dead pixel) but i'm not swapping it.

I think it's funny as many people that have complained and moaned about Apple's crappy quality control on the iPhone that the majority of the people haven't had any issues. Maybe the QC isn't as bad as people want to think it is.

I will be getting a replacement iPhone 3G before i leave for spring-break hopefully. There is ONE dead pixel, that i can not help but notice every time i look at the screen and it just bothers me.

My first gen the Home button stopped working and as I had no apple store it had to go through O2 which took them a week to replace! Now with my 3G iPhone with an apple store opened it not 40 miles away I got an appointment at the genius bar and they replaced it there and then  ! Customer service there is amazing! Oh the 3G had something under the screen!

My iPhone is not perfect, it has a few things wrong with it, but I'm not picky enough to return it for a few petty things.

This is the same with me. It also doesn't help that the closest apple store is 2000+km away. Which means i would go at least 2 weeks with out a phone. (thats about how long my replacement earphone took).

However towards the end of its warranty i might send it in and ask for a replacement, just so i have a nice shiny one until i get a (the) new one.
