Poll: Interested in a Mac Tablet?

Honestly I prefer using a mouse over a tablet when designing. Everything just comes out cleaner and smoother with the proper use of the pen tool etc. than to draw it by hand.
 
I would absolutely get one. The only caveat: give me a damn stylus. 😡 The iPhone is great with its touch display, but for a tablet to be any use, I need to be able to write on the screen. I prefer to take notes by hand, but I prefer to have my notes on computer where I can keep them organized. A combination of the two would be ideal.

I think Steve has a war on styluses, though.

The comments Steve made about the Stylus only related to a phone.
I think Apple have seen the power of a finger based touch interface.
Yet at Steve's side project he would have watched animators and known the power of the stylus and other pointing devices. I think Apple is waiting for the technology to do both stylus and finger touch screen.

Remember the Patent app of a few years ago Screen with embeded Camera pixels, that could do both and much more. Things that other technologies can't . Like lay a sheet of tracing paper over the screen and Draw with any pen you choice and the computer could see the results.
 
As an individual who doesn't have a hectic business scheduled filled with appointments, I find these PDA/tablet devices nearly useless.

Sure, it sounds convenient at first. Portable computer for on-the-go use. Check your mail easily on the go, surf the web, type up documents etc.

The problem comes when reality hits. How often do I need to surf the web away from a computer? How often do I want to go through my mail and reply without being by a computer? Do I really want to type up an e-mail, much less a document, by pecking at small letter boxes on a tiny screen? Sure I'll take those features in a phone if it's cheap, since I bring my phone with me everywhere anyway...

But a small computer that's not comfortable to use because of the input devices? Convenient to bring with you? Yes... Convenient to actually use? No.

I think the potential for the option of a Mac Tablet is amazing. I think that the ModBook is already very excellent. For drawing and editing purposes, it is very good.🙂 I will be looking forward to one in the near future.
 
I'm curious where the market is for tablets outside of a work environment. Perhaps I just don't really see the need to stand and compute.

+1 ^^^ I would have to agree 110%. I'll be damned if I gonna' spend $1000 and not get a free chaise lounge that matches my Mac Tablet...😛

Seriously, interest will depend on what is offered. Apple, especially after the Newton issues, will have a nice solution.

Price will be another issue...
 
I so second that, Floris1994. I would love to see this, 'cause Ive will make it look hot. If it sold, the Modbook company would be losing profit.🙁:apple:
 
I think a Mac Tablet would be awesome, especially if it was like the theoretical maone in MacLife's June 2008 issue:

That personally looks awesome.

But because the screen is small with the keyboard and everything in the way, I think it would be neat to have a laptop with 2 screens - one where the screen normally is, and a touch-sensetive one where the laptop and fingerpad normally are - that way you could open things on the bottom the screen and have the entire top screen to work on it. =P Just something I thought up in my head one day.
 
I think overall the idea of tablets are very interesting I think eventually we will indeed have little tables that we care around with us that do everything (like in Star Trek). I think that with enough advanced technology we will soon not be bothered with doing everything on a tablet and then all the work we do gets stored in the cloud and never age are we left with stacks of unorganized notes on our desk or having to type stuff into the computer while in a meeting.

Apple could be on the forefront of something great if they decided to introduce an excellent tablet PC. And I think they will and I am looking forward to. Will I buy one? That all depends on my personal needs at the time and if it is cost effective. However, I think there is a major market for tablets and Apple could gain the market share in that market if they made the right moves.
 
Nope, I couldn't care less about a Mac Tablet computer. I couldn't think of anything that I do that would warrant it, I like my mouse thank you.
 
Not really. I'll use an iPhone for all of my touching needs. 😉

I prefer a keyboard & mouse/trackpad setup for most of my computer usage. 🙂
 
A tablet that's a bigger phone.

I use my iPhone like crazy and would love to see a version with a bigger screen. So it's everything an iPhone is but with something you can really read email and the internet on. Most of the time the iPhone sits on my desk in front of my iMac and it's faster to check multiple email accounts with it rather than the computer...
