There hasn't been much mention of it here yet, but I don't really know what to think. It just doesn't seem like something to make a movie about. I don't think I'll see it.

I just saw the first preview tonight on television. Not sure if I will go to see it or not- I honestly don't know a whole lot about it. :)

Yes. I would, and probebly will. I'm interested to see what is said in the movie, and what is showen.

It MAY however be too soon for such a film.

these 9-11 movies are so pointless to be doing at this point. I'm not saying doing movies about horrific events is pointless. I think they are very important to teach people about events that happened before they were born, but really, 9-11 was 5 years ago.

Who needs a reminder? 5-10 year olds?

Then again if I was scrapping the bottom of the barrel as hollywood is I might be exploiting things as well.

this was a terrible tragedy and i am kind of annoyed people actually made it into a movie.

with that said i'll probly see it anyway. but i never saw F911

Well they already made United 93... But that was just some cheesy made-for-HBO movie.

Yeah seems a little soon. Wait another five to ten years maybe.

I dunno. I think it's good not to forget but I'm not real sure about making movies about it though.
IMHO the timing isn't quite right although I answered maybe in the poll, for the sake of being curious.

As a policy I usually stay away from any and all movies whose titles end in " - The Movie"

I will look further, however.

edit: I see that the real title doesn't end in "- The Movie", but my policy still stands.

i still have all of the papers and magazines from the following day. on th 12th, i went out, bout TIME, all the newspapers, anything i could get my hands on. Now theyre all in a few ziploc baggies. i needed to save a piece of history for my kids one day.

On the basis that it will probably be an unrealistic romanticised version of events, no.

And do you do this every time a CIA sponsored coup takes place? Like putting Saddam in power? Or a death and torture squad is trained at the School Of Americas? How about a bumper ziploc of Abu Ghraib photos? Or when an American missile wings its way from Israel into a Palestinian refugee camp? Or a photo of the suicides at Guantanimo?

This is not Amerika bashing. It's just that your gift for posterity is meaningless in isolation. Your children must learn that we all have to make demands on our governments to behave better and that means showing them the stuff we do that is shameful too. And we both have so much to be ashamed of.

Gotta say, I feel compelled to see this, but I'm worried its just gonna be another Hollywood rip-off doing its best to glorify one of history's worlds atrocities!
I think there could be quite a lot of complaints from afftected families about this movie..

Flight 93 wasn't too bad, it stayed quite close to the facts as we know them...

Only time will tell

Cheers

haha. zing!

First off I think it is too early to make a movie about the WTC. Secondly, it seems like this will be just another Nicholas Cage movie- all of his movies are the same and I don't really like him as an actor.

If they wanted to do this I think it would have been better if they used less famous actors.

Excellent post.

And considering he did this...

"And do you do this every time a CIA sponsored coup takes place?"

I would say the answer is, only if it happens in America;)

no, I won't see it. I'm not offended they made this movie, but I'm not interested, either. If there's anyone in the US who has not had enough of 9/11 during the last 5 years, I have to seriously question what rock they've been under.
