Was getting great battery life on 7.0.2 on a series 6 watch, now it’s poor, charge before bed, then use for sleep tracking, in the morning it was around 90% now less than 70%

I have noticed a marked drop in battery life too. I used to lose around 8-9% overnight with sleep tracking. Now its anything from 18-27% with no changes to phone or watch.

I have even set the watch up as a new watch but still having the same issue.

Always wait one day or two after watchOS upgrade before looking at the battery life

I just upgraded this morning. Will report back on battery life changes.
Since I got the Series6 in October, I changed a lot of settings so I can get 18 hours a day. I can't stand constant charging.

Yep, two days on the trot my S6 has gone into low power mode by 3pm.
Just done a hard restart and put it on charge.

And now the S5 I wear through the night has gone into low power mode! Usually doesn't lose much power at all over night.

Something isn't right.

I updated my S4 44m to 7.1 on Thursday-evening. The battery was draining faster over the past couple of days, but it seems fine since today.

My Series 3 LTE was getting incredibly awful battery life and not even making it through an entire day, I wound up unpairing and restoring my watch and that seems to have fixed the issue.

Apple did introduce some changes in 7.1 that could basically result in much higher cpu usage in some cases. Some apps (3rd party and possible Apple own) would be affected and some wont so ymmv but it could definitely contribute to extra battery drain. At this point I for one do not know if what they have introduced is deliberate or simply a regression or unfortunate side effect but just sharing with you guys what I have noticed while doing some profiling with Xcode Instruments lately.

S4, 7.0.2

guess ill hold off on updating for a while since battery has been great and none of the changes outlined seem to interest me

I'm actually the opposite of this, I have 7.1 installed on my AW6 SBTi and have great batter life, in fact more improved then 7.0.2 on my usage.

Still poor battery life here, doing a hard reset on both phone and watch fixes it for about a day then it’s back to how it was before

Btw the change watch face automations also start working again after a hard reset

My sleep/DIY S5 has great battery life now thanks to the repair.

Just looked at the S6 battery and it's on 99% after wearing it for two hours. :)

There's definitely something up with battery life. My S6/44mm uses ~8% over night after a fresh boot but every couple of days it uses ~18% over night (8-9h) with no apps open.

Battery life while actually wearing/using the watch seems to be fine, though.

Yeah, mine is acting up also. Glad I’m not just tripping.

Guess it’s time for the Ol’ Wipe-Wipe™️. (Aside: baffles me that the Ol’ Wipe-Wipe™️ has been working to sort out small issues like this for decades now. You’d think having to clean-install an OS in order to sort out bugs like this (AKA the nuclear option) would be a bug itself that’d be squashed by now, but nooooooo. At this point, I’m beginning to think it’s a feature! And don’t even get me started about freezes! /r).
