Apple News+ Poor Internet Connection - Show Stories Downloaded for Offline Mode

Over the last few weeks I've started getting the following message when using Apple News:

Poor Internet Connection - Show Stories Downloaded for Offline Mode

Thing is, if I do a speediest while this message is displayed, I get this:

Seems just fine.

And, no other app has any throughput problems. Videos still stream. Web pages load. All normal, except for News.

Any ideas as to what's going on here?

I don’t use a VPN when reading Apple News.

Doesn't mean it's not affecting it. Simply having a VPN >installed< will affect some network connections.

Boot to Safe Mode, see if the problem goes away. If it does - remove (don't just disable) the VPN.

Well, this problem disappeared as quickly as it arose. I did not delete the VPN so I guess we know that wasn't the cause. I suppose it will remain a mystery.

I disagree, it probably WAS the VPN but they resolved it.
