So as my last post in this board highlights, I'm pretty excited to be here. That being said, I seem to be getting some lackluster performance out of my 970.

Using the Valley benchmarking tool, maxed out in 1080p, I'm getting an average of 50FPS for the 18 scene set. Seems like I should be getting much better performance (exactly double).

I'm running f03 of the Nvidia web drivers, have no problems booting, and just went through a reset of my PRAM. Any ideas on where to look next?

Your looks totally normal when comparing it with results @barefeats.com
I guess the Mac drivers simply can't do better than that.

Going to reach out to MacVideoCards directly to see what a flashed version benches.

Does anyone have other benchmark scores for a 970 that I can test (free tests preferably?).

You can easily just compare results with BareFeats.com. They test with a MacVidCards modified GTX 980. But they use a 6 core Mac Pro with 3.33GHz CPU.

Got it. So it really is a OSX/driver issue. I was worried the card itself might be bad, or improperly installed. Good to know.

Just don't compare it to Windows, then you won't worry.

Ha... Yeah, I didn't realize the massive gap in drivers/ support. Guess that's why the kids still bootcamp. Any word on Metal enhancing these cards, or is that more of an architecture change for apps?

Even Metal won't challenge DirectX 12

What makes you say that? Once you're GPU limited, all the CPU overhead improvements that DX12 has over Metal don't really matter anymore.

You should still be able to play virtually every game in OS X at maxed out settings, so I wouldn't worry too much. ;)
