Hello, anybody else noticed that the QC of Mac has dropped since the pandemic? Last week got a Macbook Air 15”. When I opened the box, I found scratches at one corner and three black dots due to poor anodization. Such black dots show up on more than half of the MacBook I have purchased the past few years.

Went to pick up a Macbook Pro 16” today. Talked about the issue and the guy said he had never heard of such issue. I said that people on the internet have complained about it. I asked for procedure of exchange. He told me to bring it to the store for them to check that I am not the one who caused these issues. His attitude was very poor. Not even a thanks for my purchase. Asked to speak to the manager and the manager also said that she had never heard of the black dots issue. I know most of the time even there are widespread issues, staff in the stores don’t admit the problems and just play dumb. Are they instructed to do that?

When I arrived home, this time I took a video of unboxing. The Mac also has small black dots due to poor anodization.

Why this happens so often?

Why weren't you compelled to open it in front of the staff, in the store, in the moment to discover if the one you just purchased didn't also have a cosmetic issue?

It seems odd you spent the time with two staff members about it, then walked out the door not caring to show the possible issue with an unboxing right in front of them. You know, to prove that you are not the one to cause these issues.

I can think of no better proof than an in-store unboxing of your brand new, sealed MacBook Pro.
