Pop-up on my friends Mac?

Hi Guys
My friend keeps on getting this pop-up

I'm suspecting this is "Malware" but I'm not sure?
What is the best way of getting rid of it and what precautions should he take, (and me for that matter),
he is not using Safari as a browser, could that be less secure?

Have your friend download and run Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.

He might want to install an ad blocker add-in like AdBlock Plus. Also disable pop-ups.
