Hmm, I’ve never liked these things because there wasn’t a good way to attach them. This MagSafe version likely isn’t that secure but is easily removable and isn’t using some weird clip things or a custom case. Might give it a try, at least having a stand that’s removable is interesting.

Suddenly reminded, I do hope we’ll eventually see a DJI OSMO variant with MagSafe albeit with much stronger magnets than most MagSafe accessories.

I’m in the wrong business. Make this stuff for $1 in China and sell it in the US for $30

I would not trust these magsafe accesories, the magnet is good but it's not that strong, bad move can send your phone to infinity

Are these honestly going to be any good?
Thinking the same thing, then saw this:
“I would recommend caution when using it, though, because like any magnetic accessory, it can detach if you do something like press a thumb down on the ‌iPhone‌ while pulling up on the PopGrip ‌MagSafe‌.”

Definitely a pass

Why do they recommend using a case, I wonder?
Because the magnets tend to be stronger when using a case. When checking out the MagSafe wallets I tried attaching one to the phone while in a case and naked. The attachment was noticeably stronger while in a case. Not sure why, YMMV, but that was my experience.

I think it’s fun an entire industry has popped up because phones are too damn big these days.

Written from my 12 mini 😉
hahahaha completely agree with this.

that being said - i have one on my 12 mini 😬 (i bought a small magnetic plate on amazon months ago and macgyvered a magsafe one). just helps when i'm using my phone lying in bed sideways.

Are (credit) cards not using a magnet stripe anymore? Wouldn’t want to bring magnetically stored information that close to a couple of magnets …

I kind of see the appeal for some people, but this is one of the main reasons I've consistently stayed on the smallest form factor for my phone (12 mini, currently). If I need a bigger screen, I'll jump to my iMac or iPad; otherwise, I'll stick with something I can operate easily with one hand.

I like the popsocket on my iPhone 11, but it has a metal cap, so I still have to use the USB cable to charge. The popsocket is handy when using the phone in bed and their car mounts are really good. Having to remove the popsocket to charge the phone doesn't sound that convenient to me. I understand that they also make a wireless charger that has a recessed slot to make your phone flush against the pad. Not worth the extra expense, IMO.

I've, personally, seen PopSockets on mostly adults' phones than teenagers. When I used to live in NYC and rode the train, mostly adults. When I used to travel to hospitals around the country for work, again, mostly adults. On the plane, mostly adults.

Anyway, I've always been a fan, myself. I've had them on almost all my devices for several years now. I have it on some of my iPhones, iPad Mini, iPad Pro (till I had to stick on a semiconductor refrigeration cooler) and Z Fold2. It's just simple convenience - keeping the phone from falling on my face at night, or just in general especially for large screens. Sticking it on the vent mount for navigation, etc.

I was lucky to snatch up the PopWallet+ for MagSafe before they sold out. I wanted a MagSafe wallet anyway but was torn not having a PopTop. After having used the original PopWallet+ before, I miss the convenience of not having to carry around a wallet in my pocket.

Hopefully, the magnets are strong enough. I have this (N35) magnetic plate with a PopSocket stuck to it that I can quickly switch between my 12 Pro Max and 12 Mini (both with cases with MagSafe built into them). However, my 12 Pro Max with the LiteChaser Pro case will just fall off it. That's okay since I usually handle that phone with the camera grip. But my 12 Mini stays on it strong with either my Mous Infinity case or my Casetify case. So I'm assuming the PopWallet+ will stay on just fine on the 12 Mini if it's got the same grade magnets. That's the phone I want to use it on anyway. I think it'll be sized perfectly for it.

PopWallet- for MagSafe02-01.jpeg

So the PopWallet+ for MagSafe stays on my iPhone 12 Pro Max case (w/MagSafe) as well as my 12 Mini case (w/MagSafe) just fine. The magnets and strong enough.

Now, if you're handling the devices just by the PopTop, the devices will stay on just fine if you're holding it, normally; even more so if the back of the device is facing downwards so as to rest on your hand. However, it's not till you're shaking the 12 Pro Max vigorously that it will fall off. But who does that? No issue at all with the 12 Mini. Even to be holding the 12 Pro Max with the back of the drive facing upwards while you're lying in bed is fine. Just don't be fidgeting with the phone, much.

I still prefer MagSafe wallets on the Mini than the Pro Max. It's a better fit. Now, if only PopSocket company would release a white version.

Have you checked MOFT. Really sleek design.I had actually psyched
I actually had the Moft, previously, for both my iPhones. They weren't cheap. The landscape position that looked like it was floating was one cool trick. But then I returned it because I still needed a car mount solution for navigation. The PopSocket vent mount was still my preferred choice.

Edit: I guess the internet is listening, again - the Moft keeps coming up on my Amazon. It's cheaper than I remembered, and they weren't yet available on Amazon at the time I pre-ordered. For some reason I thought I paid $79 each. I had actually paid $80 for two. I had the option for the magnetic strips. Looks like Moft has a folding leather popsocket-ish thing for pre-order.
