Anyone who's tried the update -- does the clipboard widget have the security function some clipboard apps have of allowing you to not index the clipboard copies from some apps (like a password app)?

I'm editing this to reflect things since I've had a little more time with the update.

I'm a long time user of Yoink.

It does have a configurable feature that ignores certain apps, so, if you can get Clipboard History to work, it should do that for you. Also, password apps seem to be ignored by default.

I couldn't get the Clipboard History to work at first. I restarted the app and it does work fairly well. I'll have to play around with it more later. It adds text or items to the history widget. The only thing that doesn't make sense to me is that it has to be items that you copy or cut. I'm not sure why it doesn't include a drop history from the app, which it seems that it should have since the whole point is to use the app without a second thought.

Been a fan of Yoink for quite a while now, but I don't really mess with most of the features. I work with multiple desktops a lot, and it's incredibly useful to have a little shelf that lets you move things between desktops easily.

I've never really gotten much use out of clipboard history apps, but if I wanted to I'd probably let Alfred (one of my other "must install" apps) handle it.

thank you!
It would appear that the clipboard is trying to copy and paste from other devices on my network, like my IPhone. I monitored it to see if it was working correctly. However, at this point, that feature has rather unpredictable results. Is that part of the widget a work in progress at this point?

That's macOS' "Universal Clipboard" at work, and for me, it hasn't been very reliable - sometimes copies from other devices are synced, sometimes they aren't - I'm guessing that's what you're seeing?

(I'm the developer).

Users can make Yoink ignore specific apps completely, and Yoink itself tries not to store sensitive data. It does so by:
- Ignoring copies from any app that contains one of the following in its name:
Keychain, Enpass, 1Password, KeePass, LastPass, Password, Kaspersky, mSecure, AppLocker, Keeper Password, Passwort, oneSafe, Secrets, Strongbox, RememBear, Dashlane and Bitwarden.
- It also ignores copied content if one of the following data types is present in the current copy:
com.agilebits.onepassword, org.nspasteboard.TransientType, org.nspasteboard.ConcealedType, org.nspasteboard.AutoGeneratedType (as openly suggested by developers, for developers, on http://nspasteboard.org)

As for actively looking at copied content and trying to figure out if it's a password or somesuch, I don't do that, that's too creepy for my tastes.

Yoink's Clipboard History is off by default, and once activated can be deactivated anytime in its Preferences > Extension, and doesn't have to be used for the rest of the app to work, of course. Items in the history can be deleted in Yoink's History Browser.

I hope that clears things up. Also, please refer to my privacy policy (eternalstorms.at/privacy) - I don't use any type of analytics or tracking in my apps and websites, and don't do any usage tracking in any of my apps or websites. If your internet connection is used in one of my apps, it's for a specific function of the app that's relevant to the user. In the case of Yoink, that's for optionally loading favicons for links dragged to it, for loading the Splash screen videos from my server, and for previewing URLs in Quick Look.

- Matthias

It does, though. Right-click into Yoink's shelf and the clipboard history will be right there - the same is true for its optional menu bar icon. Hope that helps.
It also offers the History Browser, to organize copied items.

After copy and pasting text in Safari on the phone (for example), there is a delay and then items are appearing in the Yoink clipboard history. However, they are shown either a nonsensical batch of characters or as an empty rtf file.

Yes, I can access the clipboard history. For me, it's treating the actions differently. If I look at the clipboard, by either the menu bar or the shelf, it will show me anything that I cut or copy by means of another app or in the finder (files and text). It does not, however, show any files that were dragged and dropped from the shelf.

Following post just had a look and installed trial. So far I like it - simple, focused and unobtrusive. Will run it today but likely remove trial and purchase later this evening. Impressed.

Hi Matthias,

Can I use the app standalone (without any external connections or sync's)?

Can I choose the path the app uses for storing the stuff copied to it? E.g. an encrypted Volume on the HD?

Nice that you are here to answer questions, ty. Cheers.
Yoink on the Mac currently doesn't sync via iCloud.
It can load favicons from the internet for weblocs you drag to it, but it's disabled by default.
When you drag a file to Yoink, it remains where it is, Yoink only holds a reference to it until you use Yoink to drag it somewhere else.
The clipboard history stores its data in your user's library folder. This can not be changed right now.

Thank you, appreciated. Will give the app a try.

Very impressed. Demo uninstalled and purchased via AppStore. So usable it should be included in macOS ;)

I have the setapp version and when I try to add the today widget there is not a Yoink option. Is there something I am doing wrong?

This should really be built-in functionality. I really like the look of it, it's super slick, but will I need it enough to justify a £9 spend? At least it's not a monthly subscription!
As someone who has been using it for years now, yes. It's well worth the asking price and will save a tremendous amount of time in the long run.
