Good rant.
But i dont like rogue amoeba. I still remember being induced in error into thinking that their soft could stream audio in sync with video, buying it, complaining, and denied a refund on various arguments. These were border line, so i can’t call it scam, although, it reaaaaally felt like a scam.
That was 10 years ago :) and I still remember you :) and wont buy anything a second time.
Enjoy.

Remember when the 2014 Mac Mini event invitation teased “it’s been too long”? Apple should say “it’s been way, way too long” this year.
And the 2014 Mac mini was in most ways worse than the 2012 one. They even made the top of the line version SLOWER than its predecessor, taking out half the CPU cores (at least the GPU is a little faster). It's things like this...

While I’m on the same train as everyone on how Apple is failing in the computer part I don’t get how they make so much profit, probably from iPhones but I wonder if it’s a good strategy to bank on iOS only now? Does it still have a future ?

The future of Apple has never been brighter, especially since iOS is the future, not the Mac.

One bets against Apple to their own detriment.

yep, so if Apple will be waiting for a long time.

The future of Apple has never been brighter, especially since iOS is the future, not the Mac.

My list is in terms of shifts of product cycles.:
1. iPhone
...
10 iPad
12 Mac mini etc.

The hypercritical fringe, though, is surrounded by mainstream users who ask them questions about technology all the time. My sister was just asking me for advice regarding a MBP purchase for her new job...While it's fair to say that we don't represent the mainstream, we do have influence over people in our lives that have recognized us as computer nerds.

My wife needs a laptop for work now, I just can't recommend any MacBooks! The cheapest 15" MacBook Pro is 2800 Euros! I guess we will go for a comparable Asus Vivobook or Acer Swift for 800 Euros! Sure there are tradeoffs but for almost 4 times the price! Now I will be watching closely how well those laptops work just in case Apple forces me to make a switch by myself.

My best friend finally bought an iPhone and she loves it. She has been bugging me which Mac to buy because she would like to use the features with her computer and I keep telling her to wait a year and again to wait another year and so on. If Apple keeps abandoning the Macs I will tell her to forget Apple.

Give it time, at some point one if its internal components will turn out to be the one that fails the first (on an average level) and the not-so-easy repairability will make some people very mad.
You asked which product had no lawsuits. I named one. Your crystal balling is irrelevant.

Tell me, how do you do an upgrade without a chip upgrade? Intel is dribbling out chips at a snail's pace. I presume that might not hold for the mini, where anything would do, but portables and iMacs that need a faster chipset, what should Apple do?
I'm sorry, but if every other laptop and desktop manufacturer can be 2 generations ahead of Apple, using Intel chipsets and processors, the problem is not Intel's.

To summarize it I would just say that

Who said you had to do heavy tasks on a MacBook Air? That's not what I am trying to explain.
To put things simply, let me show you the possible configuration of the current iMac Pro.
Intel Xeon W 18 cores
128 GB of RAM
Is that not sufficient enough? Do you need 256 GB of RAM? Do you need 32 cores?
You guys are all complaining about the Apple computers not being fast enough, but I'm guessing none of you is having this configuration. Apple is still selling the low-key low-resolution MacBook Air that is sufficient enough for like 90% of the population. They also have Pro material that definitely provides enough capabilities to Pro like yourself. But people complain because they don't release right away the latest CPU whatever. Get a life.
what about pciexpress port? what about capture card? what about internal raid drive? cause you know the iMac is well suit for... humm wait pseudo pro! it a total ripoff for a pro machine. Not that it’s not worth the price, but it totally lack upgradbility or any quick repair! I need a raid so I can swap my hard drive when one die, not f$@& wait into a damn show floor store and wait for an hard drive to be replaced! this iMac pro is not remotly what pro or developer need! This is a great video/photo workstation at best! Don’t you dare do anything else that will require expension card or you will end up with hub and external box all over your desk! People are so disconnected from the needs of the pro they seem to think every business have thunderbolt 3 SAN I guess! and a bunch of spare machine so you can swap the machine if one of there super slow hard drive die!

I'm sorry, but if every other laptop and desktop manufacturer can be 2 generations ahead of Apple, using Intel chipsets and processors, the problem is not Intel's.

Apple Intel CPU's are probably custom to them. Their still x86, but like anything Apple customs, i also would include the processor even if it IS intel design. Otherwise the finger pointing is squarely on Apple.

Intel can't be far behind with chip development, but they could also be skimping on Apple, until Apple catches up.

It's going to be at very least, another 1-2 years before Intel has processors that have mitigated the issues and they're still finding more issues weekly. A new one was discovered just last week. The latest is called Lazy State.

I think it's pretty apparent that Apple is treating the Mac as an iOS Developer Kit. Also with Apple crippling their hardware they can replace the CPUs with ARM chips and say "hey look how much faster they are than the last models" when they haven't updated them in 4 years.

Tell me, how do you do an upgrade without a chip upgrade? Intel is dribbling out chips at a snail's pace. I presume that might not hold for the mini, where anything would do, but portables and iMacs that need a faster chipset, what should Apple do? Put up a full-bore chipset? Buy Intel and close down all the part of it that makes stuff for other OSes? For the first time, Moore's Law isn't true anymore. Should Apple make their own? iPhone chips can't run desktops, can they? How to make things better without speed? Sorry, I don't think they want to abandon the desktop, but the beast seems to have growing problems. Intel is only putting out new chips in boutique quantities, for companies that can make a batch of 20,000 or so. Back when Intel was humming along, and IBM couldn't make things faster, we jumped on the Intel train and the ride was great. But now? What can Apple do except go with styling now? The chips for business or pro use are really expensive multi-core. No good for laptops. Whereas, where Apple's making its own chips with ARM, they're still getting huge increases each year. Could those chips run an iMac? Tech guys tell me no. Are they right?
You confuse cpu as a whole
machine! The people need more then just a cpu. But they could at least start by using 8th gen intel cpu for a slow start that would at least make your argument a little ground! but I doubt it would satisfy the pro hanger at this point. Cause you would put a bandaid on an open wound! and a deep one it is!

Do you have anything to support this speculation of yours?

Apple stock was at a high going into WWDC, and has been dropping every day since. Its almost as if investors said "wow, that's it?" with their money.

Steve Jobs saying "we don't ship junk" and Tim is sitting right there next to him. Steve saying "we want to make the best products, computers we are proud of, stuff we would recommend to our family and friends". Tim listening. Steve saying "our products are not premium priced if you compare with same level competitors", Tim listening. Steve: "we don't sell stripped down products". Hey Tim did you really listen????

How much I miss Steve now.

Please make some of them user upgradable.Especially the mini and the Mac Pro whenever it 's released.I still have a G5.A beautiful case that will eventually hit the recycling or trash dump.Modular sections that can be upgraded and not trashed.

Ya know what - that’s an excellent point.(the one you replied too!)

Maybe Apple have know or suspected this a lot longer but couldn’t reveal and instead doubled down on breaking this security weak link in the long term.

Without a Mac I do not buy or use an iPhone. I am not the only one.

Yep. The Mac is the only reason I ever started with the first iPhone in the first place. The Mac ecosystem is the only thing that keeps me with the iPhone now. Refuse to develop the Mac and I have absolutely no reason to stay with the iPhone. Virtually every document I have created and used in the last 20 years I can convert and use on Windows or Linux.

So you are saying you are not able to do your work on the latest MacBook Pro? How many pixels will be enough? Do you need 1 billion pixels for your wallpaper? Opening Photoshop takes 5 seconds on my 2015 MacBook Air with only 4 GB of RAM. I imagine it's faster on the new MacBook Pro. Is five seconds too much? Producing music, creating Websites, filling out spreadsheets, what is so fancy that you physically cannot do on the latest brilliant MacBook Pro?
This always comes down to this. What is the such brilliant task that cannot be performed greatly on the latest models? Who cares about the family of the processor. It could be called Celeron or i12, at the end it is about the interaction with the computer. That's why we never change our television sets. Because it performs as advertised. I press a button and I can watch tv. I don't care about anything else. That's also why we don't exchange our speakers every year. I press a button and then I can listen to my music on the same big and beautiful speakers that I have since I am a child. Do we need to change our couch and bed and glasses every year? Should I exchange my guitar each year?
We are so used to have our components changing all the time that we don't understand that computers are mature now. This is not 1995. And one day, it will be the exact same thing with the iPhone, you'll see. And people will complain, because that's what they do. On my side, I deeply love Apple, as the best company on Earth and by a wide margin.

Back in the days Steve streamlined the lineup. Four Macs: consumer laptop and pro laptop, consumer desktop and pro desktop. Easy. Now what is this mess MacBook, MacBook Air and MacBook Pro TouchBar, MacBook Pro non TouchBar? And crippled Pro machines with no ports and no upgradability? Wtf?

If you are honest to yourself you will see that the MacBook Pro as it is today actually is a MacBook Deluxe. Its just not for pros anymore. Its for advanced consumers who are pissed by the even more crippled consumer MacBooks so they have to buy MacBook Pros.

I would be all in on resurrecting Steve Jobs just to have him reprise his MobileMe tirade with Mac Hardware as the subject.

Or cloning. Maybe convince his son to work for Apple but I believe I read he's going into the medical profession. Can't fault him there. Have one of SJs kids at least as a figurehead, and hire someone who's hungry to actually manage Apple.

Define a majority of Mac Users. Would you classify the majority as power or as everyday users. The latter comes to mind, including education. The current line up more then meets their needs under the hood. The Mac OS software seperates the Mac from others like Windows OS. The need to refresh the hardware, not a differenator as it would be with different Windows systems. My 3 plus year old Mac Book doing just great, more speed then I need. Not everyone needs a heavy lifting system.

This is a perfect example of the retarded logic that allows Apple to continue asking full price for multi-year old hardware despite them being the richest company in the world. Congrats, you've helped them get there by allowing them to increase their already large profit margins. Too bad they thank you with obsolete hardware.

On the other side of the coin...
my 2007 iMac still received a security update last week.

Crazy for an 11 year old computer
