I'm happy for this - I do love Twitterrific but the development cycle is so slow. :(

I can't believe that Twitter's official apps don't do any sort of syncing, though. I was looking for alternatives since I needed a desktop client and not just an iOS one and I was stunned to find that out.

The one thing I don't like about Tweetbot is that they don't make their iOS apps universal. I mean, seriously? You really can't make a single, unified version?

I own Tweetbot for iPad and iPhone. But do tell me, why should I get it for Mac, and what advantage would it serve over the Twitter for Mac client?

very weird question....

I would make a killing if I got commission on everyone I recommend TweetBot to

I want it. I use Twitterrific on the Mac because I like the translate feature, but I need Tweetbot's mute. It'll stop me tearing my hair out when someone I'm only borderline-interested in starts live-tweeting a conference or movie & drowns out everyone else.

Since Tweetbot is pretty gesture-based on iOS, it'll be interesting to see how Tapbots alter this for the Mac. I have no doubt that they will find a great way to do it.

The only reason I tolerate Twitterrific for the Mac is because it uses Tweet Marker. I can't wait to ditch that application for a desktop version of Tweetbot.

Betting they'll make use of trackpad gestures and buttons/clicking if you don't have one (essentially just like iOS).

Always good to hear about more options for clients. Although I wish there was a decent Windows Twitter client.

The Twitter Mac client sucks and is very limited in function/feature. Much like the official Twitter client for iOS.

SO they posted a tweet about a new Twitter app.

Kinda ironic.
If to be 'ironic', something should be totally banal, completely within the bounds of expectation and really rather practical, then yes, we might consider this to be kinda ironic.

So no, it is in no way ironic.

Well I use their app on my iPhone and iPad, why would I need this for the desktop? The version I get from my browser at the website is good. In fact, I don't understand these desktop apps like Evernote and Reeder that need a dedicated app instead of just a tab in the browser.

Having your tweets contained in an app that can be set off to the side of a web browser vs. a tab that has to be switched to doesn't make sense?

Why Tweetbot for the Mac? iCloud syncing of your timeline. Tweetmarker is kinda nice, but never worked nearly as good as the Tweetbot for iPhone/iPad has. I never check twitter on my desktop cause it means I'll need to hunt for where I left on of my iPhone later.

And why Twitter? Because half of the freelance work I do comes from Twitter. It's far from a waste of time.

I guess that would be a distraction for me while I'm trying to work on spreadsheets for work or photos in Photoshop. I could see the use for casual browsing the internet while listening to iTunes. I may look further into this.

I can't wait, finally a Twitter client for the Mac which will let me set custom short URL and custom image/video hosting services PER account - thats currently impossible.

The nearest thing was the OLD tweet deck (Twitter removed the features when they bought Tweetdeck!!) but you could only have global settings for all counts - no good when you have different websites and short URLS for each account/project!

Still the average user is mostly interested in iCloud sync i guess - weirdly for me I've had no luck with it…it just doesn't seem to do much on mine and I find myself constantly clearing notifications across iPhone/iPad (and then Mac again as obviously standard Twitter client doesn't sync with anything at all) quite time consuming 6-8 times a day across two accounts with timeline, @ replies and DM's!

Still, finally a Twitter client for Mac with some power user features - the default Twitter client is so basic its ridiculous.

Evernote can be accessed offline through their desktop app.

Copy & Paste, Drag & Drop, inline Editing in other Apps.

They all don't work with a "Web App"
