I am using mocha VNC on my ipad and iphone to remote manage back to my macs at home. I set up port 5900 to forward to my iMac (10.0.1.5) and it is working fine. I also wanted to be able to remote manage my mac mini (10.0.1.8) as well but I have been unable to connect to it. I have tried forwarding 5901 and various other ports to it but have been unable to connect via VNC. I have all of the remote management settings identical to those on my iMac. I am not sure if this is an issue that remote management in OS X only listens to port 5900? Do I need to change a setting on the mac Mini so that it listens to 5901? Any help would be appreciated....

SL 10.6.3 on both machines

I am not sure what router you are using. There is no need to change the port that the Mini is listening on.

Here is how the iMac is setup:

Mocha VNC --> External IP/DNS via public port 5900 --> Router sees request on 5900 --> forwards to private port 5900 on iMac (10.0.1.5)

The Mini:

Mocha VNC --> External IP/DNS via public port 5901 --> Router sees request on 5901 --> forwards to private port 5900 on Mini (10.0.1.8)

The only difference are the public ports. The port forward needs to conform to these settings, assuming you want 5901 to be the public port:

Public TCP Port: 5901
Private IP: 10.0.1.8
Private TCP: 5900

These items will be clear in Airport Utility.

Okay thank you it is working right now. That was such a silly mistake but thank you for pointing out the problem...
