Sometimes my HDMI port and USB 3.0 ports just "die" a restart solves the problem but it's super annoying...should I be concerned?

What model, year and size, on which version of OS X?

You provided next to zero info, nobody can help you with so little.

Concerned? Yes. That's not normal. Worried, no.

First back up and try a clean install of OS X... if it fixes the issue, the software has something funky going on and you have to set up as new and accept that. If that doesn't solve it, you know it's hardware fault, and a visit to the Apple Store will be needed.
