Portable External Hard Drive?

Need some suggestions here. Do I go with USB 3.0 or thunderbolt? Any brand suggestions? Or specific hard drive suggestions?
 
USB3.

You'll need to have lots of hard drives (or 2+ SSDs) in RAID 0 to really need Thunderbolt.
