    Hi there,

I travel a lot with my 13-inch Macbook pro but the screen is too small and makes me less productive when I'm multi-tasking. Do you have any recommendations for a portable external monitor? I'd prefer a slightly larger one (but still portable in my suitcase) because I need to use spreadsheets a lot.

Also, what's the average resolution of portable monitors?

    Thanks!!

You don't say which MBP you have but if it is a 2016 or 2017 this 21.5 inch USB-C would be top of my list:

I don't own this but have looked into it and nearly got one (bought iMac instead)

Since the Asus options are all only 15.6" compared to 13.3" of the MBP, I would just switch to a 15" MBP.

A 15.6" external doesn't seem enough of an increase for the bulk and hassle, especially as you can run the 13" MBP at 1680x1050 to get more real estate.

The LG is usefully bigger at 21.5" and might fit in a suitable "suitcase" (OP's word) ..it wouldn't fit in a briefcase!

There are special cases for carrying iMacs around so "portable" doesn't mean the same to everyone!
