I just got this portable charger during a business trip when my colleague shared his power with me with plenty of power to go around.*

My first view of the YooBao YN - 642 power bank is that it is built like a tank: heavy, solid and a pretty white smooth surface. The packaging is in plastic and not paper or cardboard which is common with most modern packaging. However, the surface is a fingerprint magnet but I will not be holding it all the time.

Now to the performance part, I am a iPhone and iPad user and incredibly, I can fully charge my iPhone for a whole a week and not use the standard charger. I would only need to recharge the powerbank once in 5 days. The 8 changeable connectors ensures future-proofing.*

More about charging, there are 2 LED indicators which easily tells how much power are there in the devices and the charger itself. There is only one button on the power bank which is very Apple-like.

Pros: Monstrous capacity at 10+ K mAh, just like a tank. Plenty of power to share around. No need to find a power socket outdoors anymore.*

Apple-like design and I forgot to mention the built-in white LED torchlight that helps to find the devices' port in the dark.*

Cons: Two USB outputs needed for different brands but won't be much of a problem if you only use a few brands of devices.*

Sum it up: I would bring this if I am going to be stranded on an island.

Hi Zane80,
Thanks for sharing it. That is quite good and powerful.
And since it has two usb ports, can it charge two or three at the same time, my iphone, my psp, my ebook etc.?
Where do you get it? On Ebay?

Looks like Amazon has it.

Cool, so it is sold on Amazon as well. Globalization is truly astonishing.

Yes, since one of the 2 ports is a 2A port, a USB splitter can be used to split it but the mAh of both devices have to be under 2500 mAh. Meaning 3 iPhones can be charged at once.

I have a Kensington portable charger, liked it a lot but it mysteriously broke a month ago. It doesn't show any signs of wear or anything, but i have to hold if a certain way to get it to charge.

Thank you. I happen to find it here when I am shopping a gps for my camera. Easy Tag | Apple Zone | e-geotag.com That can make me save some shipping fee.

The local FYE store at the mall near me had sharper image battery backup things on clearance for $4.99 from $29.99 . I bought the last one they had but it's got a 1500 rechargeable battery inside that charges from any i device charger.

You got a good price, though you might need to charge your charger often since the capacity is low. Well, it is a trade-off for price for capacity. A larger capacity charger wont need charging that often. Different ppl have different needs.

Kensington, seemed they didnt QC their products before putting them on the shelves. Pretty unprofessional. Holding in a certain position sounds funny though.

Some interesting recommendations here. Yoobao YB-642 grabbed my attention for its battery capacity relative to its price. I was contemplating between phonesuit primo, hyperjuice 60wh and some others but looks like this thing got the most bang for the buck. I'd be interested in reading long term usage( > 6+ months) and how fast it loses original capacity over time.

Sorry for bumping a super-old thread. I am currently looking at MyCharge Peak 6000 Power Bank to charge my iPad 3 and iPhone 4S. Does anyone have any experience with MyCharge?

Looks like Amazon has it.

Yoobao YB-642 seems amazing in terms of price and battery. Does this work with iPhone 4S, iPad 3, or anything with a lightning charger?

Can anyone recommend a good portable charger for the iPhone. I'm looking for something that is either battery powered or can be recharged itself. Something that you can just plug into the bottom of the phone to recharge or extend talktime.

Thanks!
