This is exactly what im saying about getting a USB EVDO connection card, and a EVDO Router. You don't need a computer at all, the router makes the connection to the EVDO card, and transmitts it to Wifi, and fits in the palm of your hand. It is battery operated, so all wireless (unless your battery runs out) and can plug up to charge

That looks a great piece of kit.

I have never seen a router like that and didn't even know they existed. I imagine they are probably not available in the UK.

3mobile in the uk do a router you can connect a USB 3g modem to.
I wonder if they do a battery powered version? (I know I should have got an iPhone)
Search on their site under mobile broadband.

Okay, here's the low down:

You need and existing connection to share on your WiFi, so either get a router such as an Airport Express and connect it to an existing wired Internet connection.
OR
Buy a cellular modem compatible router and create a WiFi network that shares your cellular connection.
OR
Use a computer to share the connection using "Internet Sharing" in OS X or whatever OS you're using.

All three of these require you (or where you're installing the wireless) to already have Internet.

I have a wired router(older one) that's hooked up to my desktop.
I'd like to be able to use my touch at home now. I could just replace my router with a wireless one, but I was thinking of something that I could also use in a hotel room that has a dsl/cable internet connection. Would I be able to connect the Airport Express to my wired router and use it as wi-fi for my touch? And then be able to take it on trips and use it in a hotel room as well?

Thanks
