Just about. I have the same machine, but with 4GB of RAM and 2.26GHz, and I get 20-35 FPS at 1024*640 with everything on low. It's not pretty but it works decently.

what is "okay" with you? here's my short vid on a 2009 MB with 9400m, 2.26, 2gb ram; you'll get a few frames better with the CPU and maybe from ram. If you have bootcamp then you'll def see some more fps too

    20-30 FPS and up down.

Valve should be applauded for its efficient development of games. They always put out quality games that look great and can easily run on 3 year old hardware.

I had the very same computer before my current MBP, and it ran all Valve games efficiently under BootCamp, including L4D2. Portal 2 still runs on the same Source engine as L4D, which was made back in 2008~. It all depends at what you consider 'playable'. Turning it down will give you a huge improvement!
