I am waiting for the alano wallet in ledger style for my ip6 and would love to read some more of your views after using one for a while.
Has anyone moved on to something else or are you still impressed with it?

I'm still impressed with it, but I also just ordered a Pad and Quill Luxury Book for my 6 Plus. I'm a case whore

Thanks for the reply, I had the P&Q luxury book for my ip5 and as much as it was a beautiful case the wood frame split very easily.

I received my Alamo wallet for my 6 and the first thing I noticed is that there's no second pouch for money but I'll admit when I checked their site that it's only the 6+ wallet that contains it.
I honestly find this kind of advertising misleading.
I don't like how flimsy the spine of the wallet is and to be honest I think the twelve South bookbook is a better wallet, the quality of the leather may be better on the Alano but I think that's all that is better.
It's a nice wallet but with room for improvement considering the price.

I thought I should add to my previous post above and if there is one thing this case does right is that there is no way your ip6 will bend in this case. Because of the plastic or magnet used that shell is extremely rigid.

How flimsy is it? Would it be possible to post a short video or maybe a video showing off the case? Crazy how I can't find a video reviewing the 6 or 6+ version

Sorry no video but the spine is so flimsy that the intelli-stand doesn't work, the phone just falls over.
It's a nice case but for the money I expected better.
Another issue I can see is the rubber painted onto the iPhone holder coming off soon, it always does.
I have sent them an email and video explaining my problem but I am waiting for a reply. If they respond in a way to satisfy me then I will purchase the alano case for my iPad air 2 also.

You paid for the intellistand right? And it still doesn't work? I think I may stick with my Twelve South BookBook then. I have high expectations for a case that's over $100 and has a production time of 14-20 days.

Yes I paid for the intelli stand and it doesn't work.
It is still a beautiful case and the feel is great so don't let that put you off.

Just to update they are replacing my wallet part because of the intelli-stand issue so I can't fault them on CS.
Because of the way they are treating me I have purchased an alamo case for my ipad air 2 and returning my smart case to apple.
Like I stated before, the one thing I really like about this wallet is that the iphone holder is the most rigid case I've ever used, there is now way your iphone will bend in this.

I got my Passport version of the case today.

While I love the look and design there's no chance I'll be using it.

Reason?

As others have mentioned the snap on shell is simply too hard to take off. Sure, if you like this case and plan to make it your one and only case, go for it. However, if you're someone who likes to change your case often, or even just likes to take your phone out of your case from time to time, this is not the case for you.

It took me a good 30 minutes to get the case off. In the end I had to use a tool, wrapped in cloth, to get the phone out. While it did no damage to my phone it did damage my fingers, as seen in the image below. I lost the most of the tips of both thumbnails trying to get the darn thing off.

I won't even be reviewing it because I don't dare put this thing back on my phone.

I emailed Portenzo to ask what the suggested method of removing it is. If they have an easier way to do so maybe I'll give it a whirl. But until then I've got myself a $100+ paperweight.

I agree, as beautiful as these wallets are, it's very hard to remove the phone from the plastic holder but try bending the holder.
The rigid strength of it will give you some comfort knowing your phone is in it.

Honestly I'm terrified to put the case on again, even with this tool.

I don't blame you. As much as I love this case as much as switching it with my black Apple leather case, I find myself not using this one as it's to much effort to take it out.
Amazing quality though, got to give that to Portenzo. The magnet system is fantastic.

Agreed. If I could make myself live with only one case I'd probably be okay with it.

How are you going about removing your phone from the case?

With a lot of unnecessary effort!
I pull off the bottom corner which gives me enough leverage to pop the phone off.
After owning so many cheap, flimsy cases it's a relief to know that the portenzo one feels so strong.
I imagine the magnet glued to the back is what makes it so rigid.
It's a big jump in quality over the twelve south case which at first feels great but feels cheap once you get used to it.
I wish Portenzo would over the bottom card holder see-through though.
I see on your video you have the P&Q case for 6+, I had one for my iphone 5 but the wood split.

I'm told a tool, which makes removing the case easier, is on the way to me.

I reported this at the beginning of this thread. I put it on and tried to take it off on the first day I have it…wtf

I struggled and was worried I would damage the phone. I emailed them and they were rather blasé and said return it.

I should have returned it but I gave it away.

What does it tell you that they needed to invent a tool?

It tells me they already spent their money on the mold and rather then go back to the manufacturer to get it remade, they would prefer to continue to sell this obviously defective part.

No excuses and not need of the case to be that tight. Its too small.

An awesome case!

I absolutely love my 6+ case from Portenzo. I see that some of you kind folks think the shell is too tight, but it makes me feel like my phone is protected.

The customer service people at Portenzo were awesome and happy to send me a tool with my case. Don't shy away from this high quality product when they have solution.

Just saw a review for the 5S case (no 6/6 plus reviews on YouTube yet) and the guy says the magnets may interfere with hotel room keys. Deal breaker as I travel 2-3 times a month and that'd be a drag having to to have the front desk re-key the card.

From their support team:

Brian,

I cannot personally confirm this, but we know that the hotel cards and other magnetic security cards could be effected by the magnets. So we want to be sure that everyone is aware of this.

I wanted to update my impression on the alano case. As much as I like the look of the case, I will not be purchasing another product from portenzo. I purchased an alano case for my wife and I less than 4 months ago.

A few weeks ago, I noticed that my magnetic shell cracked on both top corners and had signs of additional cracks. When I asked my wife about her case, she wasn't surprised and told me that her shell had been cracked for at least a month. Mind you, both shells had never been removed from either phone since putting it on, both phones had never been dropped.

I notified Portenzo and sent them pics. While they sent me replacements, their response was worded like they were doing me a favor since my purchase was outside of their 90 day warranty window. My response was...

"I appreciate that… but are you implying that your cases are only supposed to last for 90 days even when pampered?? Should I expect to have the shell fail this soon? I’m wondering if I will need to contact you every few months for replacements. Being that both of our magnetic shells have cracks within 4 months of ownership, I’ve got to think that there are more people that have experienced this issue. For a product that we spent $120 I would expect it to last much longer… especially when I can spend less than $10 and have a case that lasts for years.

Like I said, I appreciate that you are sending out replacements… but what I was hoping for was a, “This isn’t supposed to happen with our cases….” statement."

That shell is too tight. Not surprised its cracking. 10 Minutes to remove it all the while worried I would break the phone. NOT ACCEPTABLE.
I got rid of my case within days.
Too Bulky, Too Heavy.
